DESIGNING THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION I N CANADA

NEW INVESTMENTS IN INFRASTRUCTURE

Many Davenport residents use public transportation everyday to get to work, visit friends and loved ones, run errands, and visit some of the great spots in and around our city and region. Over the next 12 years, our federal government has committed to investing $180 billion in infrastructure in order to ensure the foundation Canada needs for a successful economy. A significant portion of this investment is for transit and active transportation infrastructure. Phase I funds flowed last year and have been allocated to the Eglinton West line, TTC signalling improvements and vehicle refurbishments, in addition to bike infrastructure among many other things. Our federal government is currently negotiating agreements with each province and territory to flow Phase II infrastructure funds. The provinces together with municipalities will determine the priorities for public and regional transit. I look forward to announcing how this funding will benefit Davenport in the future. Since being elected, I have been a very strong advocate for transit infrastructure dollars to be used for bike paths and infrastructure. Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Amerjeet Sohi, has been a very big advocate and I am proud that the government’s investments thus far have been allocated for projects such as new bike parking spots at 40 TTC stations and adding over 525km of new bike routes including the extension of the West Toronto Rail Path. Finally, on behalf of Minister Sohi, I recently announced the installation of 70 new Bike Share Toronto stations in Davenport and around Toronto, 50 of which are funded through our federal investments!

If you have a transportation issue that you would like me to advocate for, please write me below.
