Safe travels to all of our snowbirds. Please make sure we have all of your emergency contact information and your departure forms. If you have removed any items from storage, be sure to contact the Business Of-fice so you will not be charged. See you all in the fall! Have ideas for summer entertainment? Let’s get together and plan some fun activities. If you are interested in helping to plan, please call or stop by the office. A meeting will be scheduled in May. Beginning May 1st, all lawns need weekly cutting. Your compliance with this rule is appreciated. Grass must be trimmed around flower beds, trees, planters, homes, and the sidewalk/roadway. If you have a landscaping service, please communicate this with them. In the future, please know that you must contact the garbage or recycling companies directly, not this office. Unfortunately, we are no longer author-ized to make those calls for you on your behalf. Just be sure to have your account number handy when you make the call. You can find your account number on your bill. Just a reminder that we enforce quiet time from 11 pm. to 7 am. daily. No carpentry work can be conducted be-fore 8:30 am. or after 5:30 pm.
Gary’s Corner
Be a good neighbor, and please trim back any bushes hanging over the sidewalk.
We ask that you instruct your lawn service to keep the bushes trimmed and flower beds weed-ed.
For your safety in mind, please stop at stop signs and respect the speed limit.

As I sit here writing this it has been a little over a week since we left our TH family. It seems as though a much longer time has passed since we have been busy settling in.
The April meeting was well attended for the spring season since many of our residents have already headed to their summer homes. We'll look forward to seeing everyone at the Novem-ber meeting. Remember starting with the November meeting we will be issuing new member-ship cards. The number on your card will be the number for the drawings. We will begin using these numbers for drawings starting with the January meeting. At the last meeting we discussed things that we are working on such as the permanent plaque honoring all recipients of the service awards here in the park (ie: volunteer of the year). The framing of the old military base photos to hang permanently in library. We will also be looking at a new set of furniture to make the library a cozy place to watch the movies or just to sit and read a book! Do hope that many of you took advantage of the movies as they were excellent. If not, please try and take in a movie or two this fall when they resume. Another item discussed was the next photo directory for the park. We need your cooperation with having pictures taken. Also we need volunteers to obtain advertising helping to defray the cost of the publication. There is no cost to residents as it is paid for by the HOA and advertis-ing. If you frequent a business in the area, ask them to help us out. Let's all get behind this in the fall. Once again this fall we will be selling shirts, hats and visors showing your pride in your community. This is not a money making project for the HOA, just a break even! So be sure to order yours when they become available. Now back to work here in Waterloo, NY as we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day. Check us out on Waterloony.com under Memorial Day activities and car show. Hope to see many of you there.
Beverly Good HOA President
Reminder: Tropical Haven’s Homeowner’s Association Meetings are held on the SECOND, Monday of each month at 6:30 PM

ICE CREAM SOCIAL
May 8, 2016
Second Sunday of the month
3:00-4:00 pm. in the Library.
Bring your own bowl, spoon
and $1.00. We have NO SUGAR
ADDED ice cream! Join us for a
BOWL full of FUN!
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room
temperature
1 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 1/4 pounds semisweet chocolate chunks, such as
Nestle’s
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour an 8
x12 x 2 inch baking pan.
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle at-
tachment, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated
sugar on high speed for 3 minutes, until light and fluffy.
With the mixer on low, add the vanilla, then the eggs,
one at a time, and mix well, scraping down the bowl.
In a small bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and
salt and with the mixer on slow, slowly add flour mixture
to the butter mixture. Fold the walnuts and chocolate
chunks in with a rubber spatula.
Spread the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the
top. Bake for 30 minutes exactly. Don’t overbake! A
toothpick may not come out clean. Cool completely in
the pan and cut into bars.
