The mission of the data collector can be divided

in three stages: before, during, and after the

data collection.

Main Roles & responsibilities of the enumerator

Page 5: DATE : 3 rd to 4 th June 2013 Location : Thida Baptist Church

Data collectors have to identify the geographic location of each camp allocated to them.

Once in the camp, data collectors must establish contact with the respective camp manager / responsible to provide information on his or her identity and explain the purpose and objectives of the camp profiling exercise.

If the camp manager / responsible is not present, the data collector should find out at what time he or she would be back and set up a follow up visit.

Before data collection activities begin

Page 6: DATE : 3 rd to 4 th June 2013 Location : Thida Baptist Church

Data collectors can proceed to conduct the interviews in the camps

allocated to them.

The primary key informant for the interview is the camp manager

or responsible person.

As capacities vary from camp to camp, in case the manager or

responsible person is not able to provide all the information

requested, data collectors are advised to identify other(s) key

informants who can provide general information about the camp

(e.g. camp committee members, community leaders, teachers,

doctors, midwives, or local authorities).

During the next stage

Page 7: DATE : 3 rd to 4 th June 2013 Location : Thida Baptist Church

The interview can only begin when the camp manager /

responsible or the additional key informant(s) agree to

answer the data collector's questions.

For the final section of the camp level questionnaire

(identification of gaps) the data collector must also identify a

female camp resident that can provide information about

camp resident’s needs (e.g. camp leader, women's

representative, etc.), to be interviewed separately from the

camp manager.

During the next stage…

Page 8: DATE : 3 rd to 4 th June 2013 Location : Thida Baptist Church

After the interview is completed the data collector must

check the camp level questionnaire to make sure that:

All questions on the questionnaire have been completed, and

that if any fields are left blank it is justified;

All answers have been correctly noted according to the

guidance provided in this manual

All skip patterns indicated in the questionnaire have been

correctly followed

After the interview
