Year 2013-2014
AMA International University-Bahrain, a leading academic
institution in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has undergone changes
to cope with the challenges for higher education in the King-dom and the region.
Through the years, AMAIUB has left no stone unturned to rise
above the global challenges responding to the academic impli-cations. As a private international university, AMAIUB pro-
vides access to quality education through its commitment to
outcome-based instruction, research and community en-gagement to produce highly skilled and capable graduates
dedicated to life-long learning responsive to the growing needs
of Bahrain and the neighboring countries. To contribute to the objectives of Bahrain Vision 2030, the
University takes cognizance of higher learning, curriculum
improvement, student skill development, curricular instructions and facility improvement to open its doors not only to Bahraini
citizens, but also to other GCC nationals who want to pursue
higher education. Responding to the global demands of ac-countability, the degree programs of the university have been
subjected to Quality Assurance Authority for Education and
Training (QAAET), an internal body tasked to elevate the stan-dard of education, monitor and review the system to quality
control especially the higher education department in the king-
dom of Bahrain, and underwent consultancy with the Accredit-ing Body for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the
European Council for Business Education (ECBE), to continu-
ally support excellence in superlative education. AMAIUB acknowledges the aid of its foremost wealth, the
human capital or knowledge assets. The institution has been
“re-missioning” its education policies and standards to answer some of the challenging realities of youth employment in the
labour market, shift in career paths and core skills.
Aware of these global challenges in higher education, AMAIUB emphasizes employability of its graduates. To
outsource probable opportunities, the University assists stu-
dents in mapping their career directions, as well as introduces them to various programmes and options available in differ-
ent establishments, links them with employers in the job mar-ket. Ergo, promotes an admirable employment climate in the
Kingdom of Bahrain. By Faten Zainal and Naeema Tareq
With global implications, strategies have been innovated to
transform oil based to knowledge based skill to support eco-
nomic growth and development. Gradually, this initiative will reduce the need for foreign skilled labor and create high-value
jobs for national talents. This will then process the integration
of international and intercultural dimension in the function and delivery of higher education to jibe with the mission of produc-
ing global citizens for global competitiveness.
In addressing these challenges, AMAIUB continues to work
and respond to the challenges in higher education, tailoring its
vision and mission to support the Kingdom’s economic and educational goals. Indeed, the University shows to the global
arena that since the world is changing, it has to move with it.

AMAIUB commemorates
Bahrain National Day
With its quest for continuous quality improvement, AMA International Uni-
versity conducted a workshop on outcome-based pedagogy on September 12-
13, 2013 at the University Auditorium.
AMAIUB invited Prof. Susan Bloxam, Faculty of Education and Director of
Educational Research of the University of Cumbria, Lancaster as the re-source speaker for the said activity.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the University’s foundations on outcome-based education especially on exploring better approaches to teaching, learn-
ing and assessment of student outcomes.
The AMAIUB faculty members have fundamental backgrounds on outcome-
based education since pedagogy had been shifted from input-based into out-
come-based in 2011. This was further reinforced when the University under-went ABET accreditation of the engineering and computing programmes, and
ECBE accreditation of its business programmes.
This workshop likewise intended to boost a significant level of confidence

How To Get Good Marks
7
Being a University student is academically chal-lenging, but there are some tips to improve a uni-
versity you marks. Firstly, create a positive atti-
tude. If you set a good attitude towards studying, it is possible that you will start liking a subject that
you were not really fond of before. Secondly,
attend classes regularly. You will remember or learn more if you are present in class during
lectures than if you skip class and take notes later
on. Another tip is to always do your homework. If you want to watch your favorite TV show in-
stead of doing homework, think about this: Is your
favorite TV show going to help you get good grades in the university and possibly help you
achieve the job of your dreams? If the answer is
yes, then by all means watch the show. Next, ask for help when you need it.
Do not feel shy to ask anybody who has the knowl-
edge on the subject that you need help with. Then, manage your time effectively. Try studying 1 or
2 hours daily and leave a half hour for homework.
If you have quiz a week afte, start studying now. Try not to study at the last minute and cram the
night before.
Many people associate the idiom "no pain no gain" with the
world of exercise. Exercise gurus often use this expression during their routines as motivation for their students. The
gain in muscle or strength would only come after the pain of
intense exercise. The same thing applies with students who study and work at the same time.
Most of the working students always have difficulty with time management and will eventually get tired and bored of
their daily routines. This is the point when students will be
close to failure and will try to re-think of their decision. The best solution will be to motivate oneself again and be
patient for the time being until it’s over and as soon as it is, here
is when “gain” comes.
Deciding whether to be a working student is a really difficult
decision to make. It reflects an individual’s personality and sense of responsibility. By Adeeb Ali Assi
In addition, set goals for
yourself. If you fail once,
don't give up and keep trying!
Finally, know your personal
learning style. It will help
you maximize your learning
by using effective study
techniques, enabling you to
make the most efficient use
of your study time. By Raymond Torrente

With its quest for continuous quality improve-
ment, AMA International University con-
ducted a workshop on outcome-based peda-gogy on September 12-13, 2013 at the Univer-
sity Auditorium.
AMAIUB invited Prof. Susan Bloxam, Fac-
ulty of Education and Director of Educa-
tional Research of the University of Cumbria, Lancaster to be the resource speaker for the
said activity.
The workshop aims to strengthen the Univer-
sity’s foundations on outcome-based educa-
tion especially on exploring better approaches to teaching, learning and assessment of stu-
dent outcomes.
The AMAIUB faculty members have
fundamental backgrounds on outcome-
based education since pedagogy had been shifted from input-based into outcome-
based in 2011. This was further reinforced
when the University underwent ABET accreditation of the engineering and com-
puting programmes, and ECBE accredita-
tion of its business programmes.
This workshop likewise intends to boost a
significant level of confidence among the teaching force of AMAIUB.
