Process engineer for the Golden Eagle and Tartan replacement PIG receiver and MOL Pig Launcher at Claymore platform. Including updating P&ID’s PFD’s, control valve and instrument datasheets. Preparing documents including: ISO 10-4-18 report for PIG receivers, the control and operating, relief and blowdown and shutdown and isolation philosophies. Reviewing PIG receiver and Launcher interlock system.

April 2011 – July 2012 Invista Process Engineer (Contract)

Process engineering design duties on a PTA FEED project. The project is to install a new larger TA reactor and associated heat exchangers to increase throughput for Reliance in Patalganga, India. Part of my duties was to validate the reactor overhead heat exchangers and design the new exchangers and pumps to cope with additional demand. Responsible for designing 3 new heat exchangers and 3 pumps. Validate this against the existing process. In addition identifying cases and sizing pressure relief valves. Creating equipment, control and relief valve datasheets as well as instrument and line lists.

Page 3: Darren Walker CV 2017

Technical lead engineer responsible for the technical delivery of open loop optimization systems (which provides advisory information to operators to provide plant wide set points using an economic objective function (to maximize profit or minimize costs).

Develop an online simulation with online and offline user interfaces (OSI Process Book & Excel). Leading the project from kick off to delivery including handling the client, documentation, system testing (FAT/SAT), graphical interface (For online systems use PI process book and offline systems MS Excel were used). On site commissioning and engineer and operator training. Such optimization systems include:

CITGO A Refinery Powerhouse in Louisiana. The optimization system provided benefit in excess of US$5m pa. Trans Alta a Canadian cogen facility audited optimizer benefits were in excess of $10 million Canadian dollars per annum.

Designed to detect and size significant instrument error in real time and inform the operator (on screen alarm) via a purpose built PI process book interface. The project required significant product development and improvement. I managed all the technical aspects across 3 departments (software development, the project build and testing team and the interface and historian build) in addition to managing the customer. The system provided the customer with a system that meant that their steam and power customers had more accurate billing more of the time.

March 2001 – March 2005 Emerson Process Management Process Engineer

I was a project engineer on numerous open loop optimization systems, for example Eastman Chemicals in Tennessee where the company won an award (American Chemistry Council Exceptional Merit Award) due to the benefits attained by the optimization system.
