SummaryElectrical Engineering experience: ~ 16 years’ experience in the Oil/Gas/Chemical industry (upstream and downstream), with a comprehensive range of responsible positions delivering: Electrical design and large scale projects (>$100M) Engineering assurance Setting engineering standards and requirements

Reliability and maintenance Operations support Turnarounds

Personal characteristics: rigor, attention to detail, and pragmatic engineering judgment. Able to plan thoroughly and work collaboratively across functions to deliver high quality complex tasks.I am respected in the BP Electrical Community and beyond - a regular contributor to Engineering Practices’ development, have been chairman of the EEMUA electrical committee, member of the Energy Institute electrical committee and co-authored numerous industry electrical best practices.

Work Experience2012 - present BP ExplorationElectrical Technical Authority (Angola)Responsible for electrical assurance in the Angola region, including setting of electrical standards, managing safety and operational risk, providing deep technical support to the business, and operational intervention.

Some achievements in role: assured project handover of PSVM

offshore asset (sanction cost $10billion) mitigated Angola safety & operational

risk - especially related to Electrical Generation and Ex equipment

developed Angolan process for managing deviations from engineering standards

delivered formal assurance of high risk electrical systems

developed Electrical Discipline Health:o created/chaired global Electrical

Technical Authority forumso rolled out an engineers’ technical

development programmeo provided technical coaching and

mentoring to region engineers set Angolan electrical standards and

requirements (e.g. new Electrical Authorisation Procedure)

Angola is a significant BP operating region (>350k bpd production), containing offshore deepwater FPSOs (Greater Plutonio and PSVM), which constitute BP’s two biggest cash generating assets.

2006 – 2012 BP Coryton Refinery UK (became Petroplus June 07)Instrument and Electrical Project Leader (2010-12)Accountable for the I/E delivery of Coryton Refinery’s largest ever turnaround (£100 million, and 850k man-hours), developing TVP processes, HSE and QA plans, contracts, workscope management, and implementation of projects that total £7M. I managed a team covering electrical, instrument, and analyser disciplines.

I was a member of the following Electrical Committees: EEMUA (I was the chairman) Energy Institute

I had technical contribution to the following standards which are now used industry-wide: EI Electrical Safety Code, Control of hazards arising from static electricity, Guidelines for managing inspection of electrical equipment in hazardous areas, Lightning protection of hydrocarbon storage tanks, and EEMUA 186 and EEMUA 133.

Engineer projects for short-term and long term improvement solutions. Act as client engineer in completion and acceptance of 3rd party projects. Carry out all site cable calculations/designs. Produced/updated all electrical equipment maintenance strategies to provide 98% plant

reliability (criticality-based strategies ranging from “run to failure” through to “condition based”). Implemented new CMMS (Maximo) fault reporting system, optimized maintenance strategies using trends, reliability analyses and failure RCFAs. Implemented spares strategy and Operator basic care programme.

Carry out Major Incident Investigations. Ensure selection, installation, and maintenance of electrical equipment is compliant with

Hazardous Area DSEAR (ATEX) regulations. Ensure continual availability of critical supplies (Uninterruptible Power Supplies). Mentor for Electrical Engineer Graduate. Graduate recruitment team: deliver University presentations and technical interviews.

Responsible for final decision over Electrical recruitment.
