DAN’S COSTUME

PLAIN BLACK T-SHIRT

A plain black t-shirt represents Dan’s age as most young adult men wear plain t-shirts, often in a dark colour. This will reveal Dan’s age to the audience, as I found that costumes could do this in my costume research, for example with the elderly couple in The Notebook.

RIPPED JEANS

Ripped jeans will show Dan’s character trait of laziness. As found in my costume research, Johnny Depp’s character’s costume in Secret Window reflected his ‘given up’ state of mind. Therefore, the ripped jeans will have a similar effect in revealing Dan’s personality to the audience.

OLD SNEAKERS

Again, as with the ripped jeans, the old and decrepit sneakers that Dan wears will also infer Dan’s lazy and unconcerned personality.

BODY ARMOUR

Dan’s body armour will consist of a baking tray strapped to his chest, cardboard warpped around his arms and a colander serving as a helmet. These household objects serving as body armour will create a comedic element as it would not really serve any protection from a car, highlighting Dan’s naivety and unintelligence, revealing more about the character.
