❏ Why? Necessary to serve some students with disabilities, great for ESL students and helps your video reach a larger audience through language translation.

❏ YouTube is by far the easiest to use for short videos.

❏ Better than nothing but accuracy varies greatly

❏ EDIT the auto translation file

Let your viewers know that subtitles and closed captions are available by adding

an annotation, note in the video description, or other feature to your video.

Recommendation: If YouTube has trouble transcribing your

voice, use YouTube’s transcribe and set timings tool


Best practices

• Save often

• Organize folders

• Keep it short-5 minutes or less

• Purposeful mouse movement-use an actual mouse instead of the trackpad on your laptop

• Be aware of background

• Don't shoot for perfection
