! Darius the Mede is likely Cyaxares II, king of the Medes: https://
truthonlybible.com/tag/cyaxares-ii/
! Babylon was conquered by King Cyrus of Persia in 539BC, as general of the
combined armies of the Medes and Persians.
! Dan 5:31 “And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore
and two years old.” (62)
! Dan 1:21 “And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.”
According to this verse and the subject matter of Daniel 10, “In the third year
of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel…” verse 1, it may be
inferred that Darius the Mede died in 538BC, when King Cyrus must have
become king over the combined kingdoms of the Medes and the Persians.
4 6/15/20
Dan 9:1 “In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the
seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the
Chaldeans;”
{PK 523.1} “Babylon was besieged by Cyrus, nephew of Darius the
Mede, and commanding general of the combined armies of the
Medes and Persians.”
See Prophets and Kings, Chapter 44, pages 539-548.
5 6/15/20
Dan 6:1 “It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an
hundred and twenty princes, which should be over
the whole kingdom;” ! 120 “princes” or governors over the provinces.
! According to Esther 1:1, 53 years later in 486BC there were 127 provinces.
6 6/15/20
Dan 6:2-3 “2And over these three presidents; of whom
Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts
unto them, and the king should have no damage. 3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents
and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him;
and the king thought to set him over the whole
realm.” Dan 5:12 “Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and
understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and
dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel…”

{COL 350.5} “The case of Daniel has a lesson for us. It reveals the fact that a
businessman is not necessarily a sharp, policy man. He can be instructed by
God at every step. …the Lord desires to have in His service intelligent men,
men qualified for various lines of work. There is need of businessmen who will
weave the grand principles of truth into all their transactions. And their talents
should be perfected by most thorough study and training. If men in any line of
work need to improve their opportunities to become wise and efficient, it is
those who are using their ability in building up the kingdom of God in our
world. Of Daniel we learn that in all his business transactions, when
subjected to the closest scrutiny, not one fault or error could be found. He
was a sample of what every businessman may be. His history shows what
may be accomplished by one who consecrates the strength of brain and
bone and muscle, of heart and life, to the service of God.”
8 6/15/20
{COL 357.1} “As God called Daniel to witness for Him in Babylon, so He calls us to
be His witnesses in the world today. In the smallest as well as the largest affairs of
life He desires us to reveal to men the principles of His kingdom.”
{CT 283.4}{Ms51-1893.33}{SpM 75.2} “There is need of everyone in every school
and in every other institution being, as was Daniel, in such close connection
with the Source of all wisdom that he will be enabled to reach the highest
standard in every line. The love and fear of God was before Daniel; and
conscious of his amenability to God, he trained all his powers to respond as far
as possible to the loving care of the Great Teacher. The four Hebrew children
would not allow selfish motives and love of amusements to occupy the
golden moments of life. They worked with willing heart and ready mind. This
is no higher standard than every Christian youth may reach.”
9 6/15/20
Dan 6:4 “Then the presidents and princes sought to
find occasion against Daniel concerning the
kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor
fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there
any error or fault found in him.” ! Why were the other two presidents and the 120 princes so hostile against an
84 year old man? Because Daniel could not be “controlled,” he was not
compromised in any way.
Luk 19:14 “But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying,
We will not have this man to reign over us.”
Ecc 4:4 “…every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour.”
10 6/15/20
Faithful, no error or fault: A character attribute of God’s
people at the time of the end.
Gen 17:1 “…walk before me, and be thou perfect.”
(see Lev 11:44; 19:2; Jas 1:4; 1Pe 1:15-16)
Mat 5:48 “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in
heaven is perfect.”
Col 4:12 “…that you may stand perfect and complete in all the
will of God.”
11 6/15/20
{ST November 4, 1886, par. 11} “From the history of Daniel we may learn that a
strict compliance with the requirements of God will prove a blessing, not only
in the future, immortal life, but also in the present life. Through religious
principles, men may triumph over the temptations of Satan and the devices of
wicked men, even though it costs them a great sacrifice. What if Daniel had
made a compromise with those heathen rulers, and had denied his God? What
if, on first entering the court, he had yielded to the pressure of temptation, by
eating and drinking as was customary among the Babylonians? That one wrong
step would probably have led to others, until, his connection with Heaven
being severed, he would have been borne away by the power of temptation.
But while he clung to God with unwavering, prayerful trust, he could not be
forsaken. The divine protection is pledged to those who thus seek it, and
God cannot forget his word.”
12 6/15/20
{RH February 8, 1881, par. 10} “What a lesson is here presented for all Christians.
The keen eyes of jealousy were fixed upon Daniel day after day; their
watchings were sharpened by hatred; yet not a word or act of his life could
they make appear wrong. And still he made no claim to sanctification; but he
did that which was infinitely better,—he lived a holy, sanctified life. The true
test of sanctification is the daily deportment.”
13 6/15/20
{ST November 4, 1889, par. 11} “Daniel was counted peculiar, and every man who
makes God his counselor, and who seeks him in simplicity of heart, will be
counted peculiar by the world. But this is the faith we need, this is the
experience that we must have; for Christ has died to redeem us from all
iniquity and to purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
We should live with an eye single to his glory, and then we shall be able to
gain the victory over the world. We must come out from the world and be
separate, if we would be the sons of God, the heirs of heaven. If we do this, we
shall enter in through the gates into the city, we shall have a right to the tree of
life, and we shall see the King in his beauty.”

Dan 6:5 “Then said these men, We shall not find any
occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against
him concerning the law of his God.” ! Clearly, Daniel had a well known reputation that differentiated him from the
common religious practices then popular.
15 6/16/20
{YI November 1, 1900, par. 2-3} “Daniel’s position was not an enviable one. He
stood at the head of a dishonest, prevaricating, godless cabinet, whose
members watched him with keen, jealous eyes, to find some flaw in his
conduct. They kept spies on his track, to see if they could not in this way find
something against him. Satan suggested to these men a plan whereby they
might get rid of Daniel. Use his religion as a means of condemning him,
the enemy said.
Daniel was a man of prayer. Three times a day he knelt before the Lord;
and Satan told his enemies that his destruction must be compassed on this
ground.”
16 6/15/20
Dan 6:6 “Then these presidents and princes assembled
together to the king, and said thus unto him, King
Darius, live for ever.”
17 6/15/20
Dan 6:7 “All the presidents of the kingdom, the
governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the
captains, have consulted together to establish a royal
statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever
shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty
days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the
den of lions.” ! Alludes to the time of the end: Legislation will be passed of a religious
nature, in opposition of God’s laws, in order to ensnare God’s people.
(see Psa 59:3; 62:4; 64:2-6)
18 6/15/20
Dan 6:8-9 “8Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign
the writing, that it be not changed, according to the
law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 9Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the
decree.” Est 1:19 “If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him,
and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be
not altered...”
Est 8:8 “Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king's name, and
seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name,
and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.”
19 6/15/20
{PK 540.3} “The enemies of Daniel left the presence of Darius, rejoicing over
the snare now securely laid for the servant of Jehovah. In the conspiracy thus
formed, Satan had played an important part. The prophet was high in
command in the kingdom, and evil angels feared that his influence would
weaken their control over its rulers. It was these satanic agencies who had
stirred the princes to envy and jealousy; it was they who had inspired the
plan for Daniel’s destruction; and the princes, yielding themselves as
instruments of evil, carried it into effect.”
20 6/15/20
Dan 6:10 “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was
signed, he went into his house; and his windows
being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he
kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and
prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did
aforetime.” ! Israel had been instructed to face Jerusalem when seeking God (see 1Ki
8:29-30, 35, 42, 44, 46-48; Psa 5:7; Jon 2:4)
Psa 55:17 “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud:
and he shall hear my voice.”
21 6/16/20
{YI November 1, 1900, par. 9-10} “Some may ask, Why did not Daniel lift his soul
to God in secret prayer? Would not the Lord, knowing the situation, have
excused his servant from kneeling openly before him? Or why did he not
kneel before God in some secret place, where his enemies could not see
him?
Daniel knew that the God of Israel must be honored before the Babylonian
nation. He knew that neither kings nor nobles had any right to come
between him and his duty to his God. He must bravely maintain his religious
principles before all men; for he was God’s witness. Therefore he prayed as
was his wont, as if no decree had been made.”
22 6/16/20
{LP 297.3} “Daniel, the Hebrew captive, the prime minister of a royal realm,
encountered great obstacles to a life of fidelity to God. But at the very
beginning of his career, he determined that whatever might oppose, he
would make the law of God his rule of action. As he maintained his
steadfastness amid the lesser trials which he daily met in the court of a heathen
king, his faith, courage, and firmness grew stronger; and when the royal
decree went forth forbidding him to offer supplication to his God, he was
able, with the den of lions open before him, to stand true to principle and to
God.”
23 6/16/20
{Lt22-1890.54} “We cannot always be upon our knees in prayer, but the way to
the throne of God is always open. While engaged in active labor we may ask,
and we are promised by One who will not deceive us, “we shall receive.” [John
16:24.] The Christian can and will find time to pray. Daniel was a statesman,
yet three times a day he sought God, and the Lord gave him of His Holy
Spirit. So, today, men may resort to the most sacred pavilion of the most High
and feel the assurance of His promise, “My people shall dwell in a peaceable
habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” [Isaiah 32:18.]
All, who really desire it, can find a place for communion with God where no
ear can hear but the One open to the cries of the helpless, distressed, and
needy.”
24 6/15/20
{PK 542.1} “Thus the prophet boldly yet quietly and humbly declared that no
earthly power has a right to interpose between the soul and God.
Surrounded by idolaters, he was a faithful witness to this truth. His dauntless
adherence to right was a bright light in the moral darkness of that heathen
court. Daniel stands before the world today a worthy example of Christian
fearlessness and fidelity.”
25 6/16/20
{Lt208-1899.1} “If, like Daniel, they are men of earnest prayer, they will be
careful of their words and deportment. They will not exalt self, but they will
love and fear God, and respect their brethren. They will pray for grace to keep
themselves faithful and true and untainted with selfishness in their connection
with the work of God. No neglect will be seen, no complaints will be heard, no
unjust course will be taken toward any man whom God has used in His work.”
26 6/16/20
{PK 48.2-3} “Both in public and in private worship it is our privilege to bow
on our knees before God when we offer our petitions to Him. Jesus, our
example, “kneeled down, and prayed.” Luke 22:41. Of His disciples it is
recorded that they, too, “kneeled down, and prayed.” Acts 9:40. Paul declared,
“I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 3:14. In
confessing before God the sins of Israel, Ezra knelt. See Ezra 9:5. Daniel
“kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before
his God.” Daniel 6:10.
…The hour and place of prayer are sacred, because God is there. And as
reverence is manifested in attitude and demeanor, the feeling that inspires it
will be deepened. “Holy and reverend is His name,” the psalmist declares.
Psalm 111:9. Angels, when they speak that name, veil their faces. With what
reverence, then, should we, who are fallen and sinful, take it upon our lips!”
27 6/16/20
{ST August 14, 1884, par. 6} “Daniel was a man of prayer; and God gave him
wisdom and firmness to resist every influence that conspired to draw him into
the snare of intemperance. Even in his youth he was a moral giant in the
strength of the Mighty One. Afterward, when a decree was made that if for
thirty days any one should ask a petition of any God or man, save of the king,
he should be cast into a den of lions, Daniel, with firm, undaunted step, made
his way to his chamber, and with his windows open prayed aloud three times a
day, as he had done before. He was cast into the lions’ den; but God sent holy
angels to guard his servant.”
28 6/16/20
{RH January 25, 1881, par. 8} “Daniel was subjected to the severest temptations that
can assail the youth of today; yet he was true to the religious instruction
received in early life. He was surrounded with influences calculated to subvert
those who would vacillate between principle and inclination; yet the word of
God presents him as a faultless character. Daniel dared not trust to his own
moral power. Prayer was to him a necessity. He made God his strength,
and the fear of God was continually before him in all the transactions of
his life.”
29 6/16/20
{Lt59-1896.8} “The case of Daniel reveals to us the fact that the Lord is always
ready to hear the prayers of the contrite soul, and when we seek the Lord
with all our hearts, He will answer our petitions. Here is revealed where
Daniel obtained his skill and understanding; and if we will only ask of God
wisdom, we may be blessed with increased ability, and with power from
heaven. If we will come to God just as we are, and pray to Him in faith as
did Daniel, we shall see of the salvation of God. We need to pray as we
never prayed before. Even our prayers are indited by the Holy Spirit.”
30 6/16/20
{Ms4a-1885.73} “It is necessary to maintain a living connection with Heaven,
seeking as often as did Daniel—three times a day—for divine grace to
resist appetite and passion. Wrestling with appetite and passion unaided by
divine power will be unsuccessful; but make Christ your stronghold…”
{YI July 9, 1903, par. 5} “Right physical habits promote mental superiority.
Intellectual power, physical stamina, and length of life depend upon immutable
laws. Nature’s God will not interfere to preserve men from the consequences
of violating nature’s requirements. He who strives for the mastery must be
temperate in all things. Daniel’s clearness of mind and firmness of purpose,
his power in acquiring knowledge and in resisting temptation, were due in
a great degree to the plainness of his diet, in connection with his life of
prayer.”
31 6/16/20
{RH March 20, 1900, par. 12} “Three times a day Daniel offered his petitions to
God. He knew that One mighty in counsel was the source of wisdom and
power. The truth as it is in Jesus—the sword of the Spirit, which cuts both
ways—was his weapon of warfare. In word, in spirit, in principle, the men who
have made God their trust are an example to the youth connected with them.
These faithful servants of God are to link up with young men, drawing them
with the cords of love because they are themselves drawn to them by the cords
of Christ’s love.”
32 6/15/20
Dan 6:11-12 “11Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. 12Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.” Dan 3:8 “…certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.”
33 6/15/20
{5T 453.1} “God means that testing truth shall be brought to the front and
become a subject of examination and discussion, even if it is through the
contempt placed upon it. The minds of the people must be agitated. Every
controversy, every reproach, every slander, will be God’s means of
provoking inquiry and awakening minds that otherwise would slumber.”
34 6/15/20
{5T 453.3} “So when the decree went forth forbidding prayer to any God save
the king. As Daniel, according to his custom, made his supplications three
times a day to the God of heaven, the attention of the princes and rulers was
called to his case. He had an opportunity to speak for himself, to show who is
the true God, and to present the reason why He alone should receive worship,
and the duty of rendering Him praise and homage. And the deliverance of
Daniel from the den of lions was another evidence that the Being whom he
worshiped was the true and living God.”
35 6/15/20
{5T 527.1} “Daniel’s history is a remarkable one. He carried out his faith and
principles against great opposition. He was condemned to death because he
would not abate one jot of his allegiance to God even in the face of the king’s
decree. It might, at this day, be called overrighteousness to go, as was his
wont, three times a day and kneel before the open window for prayer …He
was a noble, steadfast servant of God.”
36 6/15/20
{5T 527.2} “Nothing is gained by cowardice or by fearing to let it be known that
we are God’s commandment-keeping people. Hiding our light, as if ashamed
of our faith, will result only in disaster. God will leave us to our own
weakness. May the Lord forbid that we should refuse to let our light shine
forth in any place to which He may call us. If we venture to go forth of
ourselves, following our own ideas, our own plans, and leave Jesus behind, we
need not expect to gain fortitude, courage, or spiritual strength. God has had
moral heroes, and He has them now,—those who are not ashamed of being
His peculiar people. Their wills and plans are all subordinate to the law of
God. The love of Jesus has led them not to count their lives dear unto
themselves. Their work has been to catch the light from the word of God
and to let it shine forth in clear, steady rays to the world. “Fidelity to God”
is their motto.”
37 6/15/20
Dan 6:13 “Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.” ! Prejudice and intolerance against the “captivity of Judah” 66 years earlier!
Dan 3:12 “There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”
Dan 5:13 “…Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?
38 6/15/20
Dan 6:14 “Then the king, when he heard these words,
was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on
Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going
down of the sun to deliver him.”
! Compare Herod, Herodias, and John the Baptist
Mar 6:26 “And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for
their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.”
39 6/15/20
Dan 6:15 “Then these men assembled unto the king,
and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of
the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor
statute which the king establisheth may be changed.” Est 8:8 “Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king's name, and
seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name,
and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.”
Psa 94:20-21 “Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which
frameth mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the
soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.”
40 6/15/20
Dan 6:16 “Then the king commanded, and they brought
Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the
king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom
thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.” ! The key to deliverance and salvation is to serve God!
41 6/16/20
{YI November 1, 1900, par. 15} “Daniel was brought before the king and his princes
to answer the accusation brought against him. He had opportunity to speak
for himself, and he boldly acknowledged his belief in the living God, the
maker of heaven and earth. He made a noble confession of faith, relating his
experience from his first connection with the kingdom.”
42 6/15/20
Dan 6:17 “And a stone was brought, and laid upon the
mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own
signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the
purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.” ! In this act, Daniel was a type of Christ sealed in the tomb.
Lam 3:53 “They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon
me.”
Mat 27:66 “So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and
setting a watch.”
! The dual seal shows that Darius and his lords did not trust each other.
43 6/16/20
{YI November 1, 1900, par. 17} “Full of satanic exultation, Daniel’s enemies
returned to their homes. They drank freely of wine, and congratulated
themselves on their success in putting out of the way one whom they could
not bribe to forsake the path of integrity.”
44 6/15/20
Dan 6:18-19 “18Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. 19Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.” Dan 2:1 “And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.”
Jhn 20:1, 4 “The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre…So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.”
45 6/16/20
{YI November 1, 1900, par. 18-19} “Not so did Darius pass the night. Daniel’s
testimony had made a deep impression on his mind. He had some
knowledge of the dealing of God with the people of Israel, and Daniel’s
conduct sent home to his heart the conviction, that the God of the
Hebrews was the true God. He was filled with remorse for having signed
the decree brought to him. His conscience was awakened, and he passed a
sleepless and troubled night. The chamber of royalty was one of sorrow
and prayer. All music was hushed. All amusements were laid aside. No
comforters were admitted.
During that sleepless night the king thought as he had never thought
before. Early the next morning, hoping and yet despairing, condemning
himself, and praying to him whom he began to recognize as the true God,
Darius went to the lions’ den…”
46 6/15/20
Dan 6:20 “And when he came to the den, he cried with a
lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake
and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living
God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able
to deliver thee from the lions?” Dan 3:28 “Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his
servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded
their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own
God.”
47 6/15/20
{TM 443.1} “‘Ye are the light of the world.’ What an impression was produced
upon Darius by the conduct of Daniel! Daniel lived a pure and holy life. God
was first with him. Whenever real Christianity reigns in the heart, it will be
revealed in the character. All will take knowledge of such, that they have
been with Jesus. The undivided affections must be given to God.”
48 6/15/20
Dan 6:21-22 “21Then said Daniel unto the king, O king,
live for ever. 22My God hath sent his angel, and hath
shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me:
forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me;
and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.” Heb 11:33 “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness,
obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,”
Luk 1:37 “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
2Ti 4:17 “Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that
by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might
hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.”
49 6/17/20
Dan 6:23 “Then was the king exceeding glad for him,
and commanded that they should take Daniel up out
of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den,
and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because
he believed in his God.” Jhn 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jhn 3:36 “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life…”
Act 16:31 “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and
thy house.”
1Jo 5:10 “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself”

{RH January 16, 1894, par. 9} “If the Lord gives you a special position in the world,
as he did Joseph and Daniel, then he will sustain and keep you in the midst of
temptation. But you will never be where you will find too much light, in our
world. Then how perilous it is to choose the association of those who love
darkness rather than light, and will not come to the light, lest their deeds
should be reproved.”

Dan 6:24 “And the king commanded, and they brought
those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast
them into the den of lions, them, their children, and
their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them,
and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came
at the bottom of the den.” Deu 19:19 “Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done
unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.”
Est 7:10; 9:10 “The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of
the Jews, slew they…” What about Deut 24:16; 2Ki 14:6; Eze 18:20?

Dan 6:25 “Then king Darius wrote unto all people,
nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth;
Peace be multiplied unto you.” Dan 4:1 “Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages,
that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.”

Dan 6:26 “I make a decree, That in every dominion of
my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of
Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever,
and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed,
and his dominion shall be even unto the end.” Dan 3:29 “Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language,
which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill:
because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.”
Psa 99:1 “The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the
cherubims; let the earth be moved.”

Dan 6:27 “He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh
signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath
delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.” Dan 4:3 “How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his
kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to
generation.”

{MH 90.1} “Jesus does not desire those who have been purchased at such a cost
to become the sport of the enemy’s temptations. He does not desire us to be
overcome and perish. He who curbed the lions in their den, and walked
with His faithful witnesses amid the fiery flames, is just as ready to work
in our behalf to subdue every evil in our nature. Today He is standing at the
altar of mercy, presenting before God the prayers of those who desire His help.
He turns no weeping, contrite one away. Freely will He pardon all who come
to Him for forgiveness and restoration. He does not tell to any all that He
might reveal, but He bids every trembling soul take courage. Whosoever will,
may take hold of God’s strength, and make peace with Him, and He will make
peace.”

{8T 123.2} “Remember that your experience is not the first of the kind. You
know the history of Joseph and of Daniel. The Lord did not prevent the
plottings of wicked men; but He caused their devices to work for good to those
who, amidst trial and conflict, preserved their faith and loyalty.”

Dan 6:28 “So this Daniel prospered in the reign of
Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.”
Dan 1:21 “And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.”
Ezr 1:1-2 “Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the
LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the
spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his
kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia,
The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he
hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.”

{PK 557.1} “The deliverance of Daniel from the den of lions had been used of
God to create a favorable impression upon the mind of Cyrus the Great. The
sterling qualities of the man of God as a statesman of farseeing ability led the
Persian ruler to show him marked respect and to honor his judgment. And now,
just at the time God had said He would cause His temple at Jerusalem to be
rebuilt, He moved upon Cyrus as His agent to discern the prophecies
concerning himself, with which Daniel was so familiar, and to grant the
Jewish people their liberty.”
