Dancers for Dancers – D4D We are excited to launch the fourth annual Dancers for Dancers program (D4D)! As a nonprofit organization, Charlottesville Ballet is committed to making dance accessible to everyone in our community. Each year, Charlottesville Ballet Academy (CBA) provides financial assistance to as many in-need students as possible. Last year alone, CB provided over $225,000 in scholarships and financial aid. In 2015, Charlottesville Ballet launched the Dancers for Dancers (D4D) initiative with a goal to expand CB's scholarship and financial aid programs while raising awareness of access & philanthropy for the young dancers themselves. D4D fosters a community where students help raise the funds that contribute towards their peers' scholarships. WHAT: CBA students are challenged to raise just $10 in the coming weeks. It can be ten $1 donations, two $5 donations, or any other combination. Any dancer who raises $10 will receive a D4D Button and there are additional prize levels for students who catch our enthusiasm and want to do more! Donations may be in cash, by check made out to Charlottesville Ballet, or online at www.CharlottesvilleBallet.org/D4D. Instructions on how to donate online have been provided with this letter and donation form. If you need additional forms or instructions, they are available at CBA. WHEN: April 8 - 13: D4D Launch Week - Introductions in Each CBA Class! May 1: D4D Forms and Donations Due May 20 - 25: D4D Prize Week & Donut Parties at CBA June 8: D4D Celebration at the CBA Spring Performance – Top D4D fundraisers will be announced and celebrated at each show! All D4D forms and donations must be submitted by Wednesday, May 1. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing [email protected]. If you are a parent, please allow us a small suggestion. Consider allowing your child to ask for these donations on his or her own. You can assist in coming up with wording, for example: “I am raising money for dancers who need scholarships for their dance classes at CBA. Would you please support me? Any amount helps, even $1.” Even if you help your child remember what to say, he or she will still be able to take great pride in any funds raised for the D4D program.
