NORTHWEST FLORIDA BALLET SUMMER WORKSHOP June 4 - 29, 2018 Level 1 Dancers Entering 4th & 5th Grades 9:15 am – 2:00 pm A half-day program that includes four classes a day with a break for lunch. Must have at least 1 year of formal ballet training to participate. No placement class required. Levels 2 & 3 Dancers Entering 6th Grade & Up 9:00 am - 3:30 pm A full day program includes four classes a day with a break for lunch. Students may choose which weeks to attend. Performance opportunities are available for students attending all four weeks of classes. Must have 3 years of formal ballet training to participate. Placement class held June 3rd at 2:00 pm. Performing Opportunities Dancers taking four weeks of Level 2 & 3 will have the opportunity to perform with the Northwest Florida Ballet Company. ABOUT NFBSince 1969 the Northwest Florida Ballet has been the preeminent ballet school on the Emerald Coast. In 2002, NFB opened the Sybil Smith Lebhertz Center for Dance Education, a beautiful building containing 13,000 square feet of dance studios, fully equipped Pilates studio, administrative offices, academic classrooms, costume shop and storage. In 2015, NFB opened the 3,500 square foot Studio Annex, which houses a large studio and is used mainly by the growing Pre-Professional High School Program.

Todd Eric Allen, Artistic Director/CEO

A native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Todd Eric Allen was a scholarship student at the Joffery School of Ballet in New York City for five years. He also attended Virginia Intermont College where he was awarded the 1985 Dance Magazine Scholarship to the Choreographers Conference.

Mr. Allen has danced with Louisville Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Les Grands Ballets Canadienes, and has performed as a guest artist and teacher throughout the United States. He has performed featured roles in ballets by Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, and James Kudelka, and has performed with the Broadway cast of Movin’ Out in New York City.

Mr. Allen has been praised for his choreography work for Boston Ballet, Rhode Island Festival Ballet, Sarasota Ballet and NBA Ballet in Tokyo, Japan.

PLACEMENT CLASSStudents will be placed in levels by the artistic staff at a placement class on Sunday, June 3rd at 2:00 pm. There is no placement class for the 4th and 5th grade Intensive Program. Note: Students unable to attend the placement class will be placed after attending the first ballet technique class or may send a video to [email protected].

REQUIREMENTSStudents participating in the workshop program must have at least 3 years of formal ballet training (1 year for the 4th and 5th Grade Intensive Program.) All students will be supervised during class hours including one-half hour before and after the class daily schedule. Students under age 18 are expected to have adult supervision at all other times. Students should bring a sack lunch.

REGISTRATIONA non-refundable deposit of $50 will be applied to tuition and must be received by April 30th. Full tuition is due on the first day of class. Please note that confirmation of registration, dress code and rules will be emailed to you in May.
