CEO’SNOTE
As with any crisis or adversity, we have a choice. We can play the blame game or step up to the plate. How can we “step up”? I believe that we should watch our tone, pitch
and pace when talking on the phone and see every conversation with our debtors as an opportunity or challenge to win the debtor over by “selling” the benefits of making
regular monthly payments. In the UK, call center agents are trained to show empathy (understanding) when engaging with the customers and are reported to be having far
greater success – “These customers can be emotionally-charged when they make contact and it can be extremely frustrating for them if the person they’re talking to
responds robotically and doesn’t understand or empathise with how they’re feeling.”
Adrian Govender
EDITOR’SNOTESo you may have made your mark towards living in a better South Africa by voting this year and after all the promises made by our beloved politicians, I realized that we at Daly play an important role in South Africa's economy.
We assist people into paying off their debt and indirectly we are pumping millions of rands (R50 million by 2015) back into our economy, so you might think that you have just another job but if you look at the importance of your respective role, you will realize that you too can make a positive impact by improving your work ethic so that we provide a superior service that will allow us to have a fun and a productive work environment.
Our jobs can turn us into stress balls at times so maintain a balanced lifestyle, remember to distress by engaging in physical exercise, get your beauty sleep, have a balanced diet and spend quality time with friends and family and together as a team we will be able to impact South Africa into becoming a productive and economically stable country.
Remember to keep your head up and do your best because better days are yet to come.
Andy McNabb
These are perhaps the toughest times we have experienced in the history of our business. Our prosperity depends on the ability and willingness of
our debtors to pay. With the recent strikes and growing unemployment, the ability of many of our debtors to pay has come under increasing
pressure and this is beginning to show in our collections numbers.
Work with your debtors and get them to prefer you over their other creditors by paying you month after month!
All the best!

MEET JANE TROUGHTON
I am passionate about the environment, with a particular interest in our beautiful indigenous plants. I run a conservancy and volunteer for The Botanical Society. I adore growing food and spending relaxing on my veranda with friends and family.
What is your role at Daly?
What motivates you?
What has been your greatest achievement?
Who will win the Soccer World cup?
What do you do in your spare time?
I facilitate SETA accredited workshops in the Leadership, Coaching and Selection and Recruitment area. I also assist the organization with its own accreditation processes including the provision of moderation services.
Working with people in a way that helps them grow and spread their own light and gifts to others. This can be in my role as a facilitator, mother or environmental activist.
Parenting the two most extraordinary people on the planet.
No idea. Don’t follow soccer.
What is your favorite dish? I am currently addicted to palak paneer.
Your most embarrassing moment? Far too embarrassing to repeat!
• For you to invest and play small with your life and not populate your life with people that are better thinkers than you is out of integrity.• Don’t be a slave to mediocrity, full expression of your will power is how you express your genius. Will power is a muscle that you need to develop, get into a programe; it takes 66 days to form a new habit, that’s 66 days of practice to wire a new neural pathway that will serve you well.• The goal is the process; don’t get hung up on achieving your goals this year, the values are the process - what it makes you. • The secret of all great success lies in making small timely wins which leads to stunning success, consistent, slow and steady wins the race.
• Genius is less about genetic and more about practice.• Surround yourself with people whose lives you want to live.• Remember every expert was once an amateur, every master was once a beginner.
Principles of Achieving Success
Your growth is built on your discomfort• If you are not scared a lot, you are not making much progress. Commit to the mountain and lean into your fear, the seduction of safety is more dangerous than the perception of uncertainty.• Go to the place where your fear lives because that’s where your growth lies.
It is your natural responsibility to be great

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, an international
men's football tournament that is scheduled to take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014. It will be the second time that Brazil has hosted the
competition, the previous being in 1950. Brazil was elected unchallenged
as host nation in 2007 after the international football federation, FIFA, decreed that the tournament would be staged in South America for the first
time since 1978 in Argentina, and the fifth time overall.
The national teams of 31 countries advanced through qualification competitions that began in June 2011 to participate with the host nation Brazil in the final tournament. A total of 64 matches are to be played in twelve cities across Brazil in either new or
redeveloped stadiums, with the tournament beginning with a group stage. For the first time at a World Cup Finals, the matches will use goal-line technology.
