No stranger to the stage or recording studio, his voice can be heard onnumerous movie soundtracks including “Jurassic World”, “Epic”, “Oz, TheGreat and Powerful”, “The Campaign”, “Star Trek” and “Star Trek 2”, Disney’s“Sofia the First” as well as the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s “Monarchy of Roses”and “The 2nd Law” from Muse.    Greg is a member of Vertical Voices.  He has also been honored to tour withthe New York Voices as a sub.  Recent appearances include WinnipegSymphony Orchestra, Riviera Maya Jazz Festival and the Gran Canaria BigBand as well as the New York Voices/Bob Mintzer Big Band tour in Japan,2014.  He has performed with Adele, Imogen Heap, Jennifer Holiday, JoeWilliams, Rosemary Clooney, Dianne Reeves and Bobby McFerrin amongothers.   His music is performed around the world by many of today’s premier vocalensembles including Chanticleer, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, the LosAngeles Master Chorale, Chicago Children’s Choir and the St. Olaf Choir.   His conducting credits include all-state vocal jazz ensembles in Michigan,Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, North Dakota, New York, California,Oklahoma, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado, New Hampshire, Illinois, Iowa as wellas the British Columbia Honors Jazz Choir and Musicfest Canada’s EllisonHonour Choir.     He is a graduate of University of Miami and Western Michigan University.

A world-renowned composer, arranger,vocalist and pianist, Greg Jasperse is theDirector of Vocal Jazz at Western MichiganUniversity.  He is also the director of GoldCompany, WMU’s award-winning vocal jazzensemble.

Álvaro AlanísÁlvaro Alanís is a Junior from Rochelle, IL, majoring in Music and Communications. This is his secondyear in Gold Company and his third year in the Gold Company Program. As always, Alvaro would liketo thank his family for their never ending love and support in everything he does. He would also like

to thank his friends for always being there!

Dewey BolzDewey Bolz is a Junior from St. Charles, IL, studying Choral Music Education and Jazz Voice

Performance. This is his second year in Gold Company and his third year in the gold companyprogram. He acted as the assistant movement/visual producer for this show. He would like to thankhis parents for their unwavering love and support, as well as all of his peers in the program who help

him grow everyday.

Jake ChandlerJake Chandler  is 20 years old and a junior studying Multimedia Arts Technology. He is from GrandLedge, MI. This is his first year with Gold Company, and has been a sound technician for both Gold

Company as well as GCII. He would like to thank Jesus, and also his Mom, Dad and girlfriend Mikaylafor supporting him through his crazy college life and career goals.

Ben Crino Ben Crino comes from a long lineage of musicians who have worked with people like Frank Sinatra,

Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, and numerous amounts of professionals on Broadway. At first hestudied classical bass, but then switched to jazz guitar while studying with Michigan State masters

grad Olin Clark. Ben is a passionate and soulful guitar player from Lansing, MI, and hasplayed/studied with powerful jazz artists from across the country such as Tom Knific, Gene

Bertoncini, Emmet Cohen, Carl Allen and played at the Detroit Jazz Festival with the Wayne StateAll-Star band. He currently studies jazz guitar with Matthew Landon and Andrew Renfroe.

Josiah DeNooyer Josiah DeNooyer is a sophomore from Grand Rapids, MI, who currently studies jazz drumming withProfessor Keith Hall. This is his second year in Gold Company, and when he’s not playing the drums

you can find him playing piano, listening to jazz (or Neo-soul, or RnB, or almost anything), or thriftingwith friends. Josiah would like to thank his parents and family for their constant support of his

musical pursuits, and also Keith Hall for his constant inspiration and encouragement, in life as wellas music.

Katelyn DietzKatelyn  is honored to be serving as the Graduate Assistant for the Vocal Jazz and Gold Companyprograms as she works on a Master of Music degree in Vocal Jazz Performance. Originally from

Rochester, NY, Katelyn graduated from Fredonia in 2017 with degrees in Theatre and Voice, with aConcentration in Jazz Studies. Until moving to Kalamazoo, Katelyn was living and performing in LosAngeles, CA, and is thrilled to bring her professional vocal group and music directing experience to

the role of Head Music Producer for GC42. Congratulations to everyone on your hard work, andenjoy the show!

JP DizonJP Dizon is a third year Music Education major from Skokie, IL. This is his third year in the Gold

Company program, and his first year in Gold Company. This is his first year on the music committee.He hopes that you enjoy his first ever vocal arrangement of the song “Love Will Keep Us Together”,and would like to thank everyone involved in the process of creating, learning, and performing hisarrangement. He would also like to thank his friends, family, and professors for always supporting

him through his education at Western Michigan University. He hopes you enjoy the show!

Katherine EliseKatherine Elise is a senior studying Jazz Performance and Leadership and Business Strategy in theCollege of Business.  She is thrilled to devote her passions to this show in her final year at WMU. She

just returned from studying abroad at Kingston University in London, and looks forward torecording her solo album as her Honors College Project this Spring.  She would like to thank the

generous and inspiring circle of family, friends, mentors, and teachers that surround her and walkwith her on her journey.

Savannah FisherSavannah Fisher from Westland, MI, is a senior Musical Theatre Performance major here at WMU.

She has recently been seen as Sarah Brown (Guys & Dolls), Tori (The Bronco Way),  Queen Elizabeth(Shakespeare in Love) and Glinda (The Wiz). She is extremely excited to be apart of Gold Companyagain and share the stage with these amazing individuals. She’d like to give a special shout out to

Miranda KeigherMiranda Keigher is a junior at WMU from St. Charles, IL. She is majoring in philosophy with a

concentration in ethics. This is her second year in Gold Company and her third in the GC program.She's been in love with jazz for a long time, and is hoping that this performance will help you see

why. Maybe you'll start falling for it yourself! Either way, enjoy the show!

Austin MalarchickAustin Malarchick grew up in Bozeman, MT, and studies choral music education at WMU. With a

background in both vocal and instrumental music, Austin has dedicated his focus to vocal jazz. Hehopes to bring concepts from this art form to all his students in the future. Currently, Austin is

currently a junior and hopes to graduate in 2021.

Candace McMurrayCandace is a 2nd year Choral/General Music Education major from Lindenwood, IL. She is a current

member of Gold Company and a part of the music, PR/marketing, and visual/movementcommittees for this show. She would like to thank her family for their never-ending support, and herpast and current directors Cory Jones, Andrew Evangelista, John Proulx, and Greg Jasperse for theirguidance and expertise with this music. She hopes this show will inspire you as much as it inspires

her, and you FEEL THE LOVE!

Julia MoffaJulia Moffa is a Music Therapy major, with a minor in art, from Brighton, MI. This is her 4th year inGold Company. Her roundabout collegiate path provided extensive study in jazz and ceramics,

providing crucial skills in tackling the challenges presented to her as the producer of ArtsManagement/Branding and Head of Internal Sales in GC42. She would like to thank her relentlessly

supportive family, friends, and mentors.Please enjoy Gold Company’s take on what “Love Is…”!

Bethany MosesBethany Moses transferred to WMU this past fall and is new to the Gold Company program thisyear. She is so grateful for Gold Company. It has helped her make so many new friends and has

made her feel so welcome here at Western. Technically, she is a Junior in the Choral MusicEducation program and will hopefully be graduating in Fall '22. She is from Chesterfield Township

on the east side of the state of Michigan. She is the head visual producer and is so incrediblythankful for her visual committee. She hopes you enjoy the show - and to her cast, BREAK-A-LEG!

Grayson Nye

Grayson Nye is a second year graduate student who also completed his undergrad at WMU. Aftersuffering an upset loss and leaving with the 2nd place trophy at the Parkside Lanes Bowling League

Tournament of 2003, Grayson vowed to never be defeated again. Since then, Grayson has wonnothing, but his drive and determination to be the best still remains. He has since switched from

the bowling career to that of a professional pianist in hopes that he would see more success. He has.And you are here to witness that today. He would like to thank his bowling team of Kevin, Connor,

and Sean for their support.

Kazuki TakemuraKazuki Takemura is a jazz bassist and composer from Japan. He began his musical journey at 16

years old playing the bass guitar and switched to double bass at the age of 18. He moved toMichigan to take part in the Jazz Studies program at Michigan State University in 2017. Currently, Heis pursuing a master’s degree in music at Western Michigan University. Takemura has studied withbassist Kosuke Inoue, David Wong, Rodney Whitaker, and John Hébert. He has played with artistssuch as Seth Ebersole, Luis Bonilla, Wessell "Warmdaddy" Anderson, Randy Napoleon and Steve

Wilson. Takemura aspires to be a traveling musician where his music becomes his passport to theworld.

Jack Wentworth

Jack Wentworth is a 23 year old Multimedia Arts Technology major from Battle Creek, MI. He is theTech Producer for GC42 and this is his second semester as the audio engineer for Gold Company.He’d like to thank Bryan Farina for donating the equipment that’s made this show sound so good!

Harrison WittHarrison Witt is a senior at WMU studying vocal jazz under the direction of Professor Greg Jasperse.

Harrison currently teaches piano at Broughton Music Center and accompanies the choir of St.Timothy's Episcopal Church. Additionally, Harrison writes original music. Most recently, his song Be

the Change was arranged by Jed Scott for Rockford High School's Advanced Women Ensemble.Harrison is honored to have worked on GC42 as an assistant producer on the production

committee as well as an assistant producer on the music committee. Harrison would like to thankGod, his family and friends, Greg Jasperse, and Matt Fries. Thank you all for the unending support.

Prior to attending WMU, Newberry spent 5 years teaching high school choir splitbetween Alton High School in Alton, IL and Herscher High School in Herscher, IL. Whileat Alton, he directed four curricular choirs, an extra curricular show choir and a cappellaensemble, and served as vocal director for the spring musical. The choral department atAlton excelled under Newberry’s direction; Alton High School Chamber Singers wereinvited to perform at the 2019 Illinois Music Educators’ Conference in Peoria, Illinois andalso received numerous Best of Day awards at Organizational Contest. He also was arecipient of the “Those Who Excel” award for Early Career Educators from the IllinoisState Board of Education (2019) for his district. At Herscher, he led the curricular choirsas well as the competitive show choir program, which won numerous awards under hisdirection. He was also in charge of managing the annual show choir competition, Swingand Sing. Newberry is a 2014 alumnus of Millikin University in Decatur, IL where he received aBachelors of Music in Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis. During his time atMillikin, he toured with the flagship choral ensemble, University Choir, to such places asEstonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the American Southwest, and New York City for aperformance at Carnegie Hall. He served as University Choir’s Vice President andbaritone section leader. Newberry’s academic efforts resulted in his graduating summacum laude and receiving the Mary B. Merris award, which recognizes an outstandingstudent in the voice department.  Originally from the St. Louis area, Newberry was fortunate enough to participate heavilyin his high school’s band department. His former band teacher, Mrs. Lori Crain, is a hugereason for his pursuing a career in music. He would like to thank her immensely forteaching him all he knows about hard work, persistence, musical knowledge, and mostof all the importance of character. Without her influence, he would not be the musicianand person he is today. He’d like to give a shout out to the producers of GC42 for theirnever-ending hard work in putting this show together and his singers in GCII formaking his job so much fun! In addition, he would like to thank his other mentors, Dr.Guy Forbes (professor emeritus at Millikin University), Dr. Brad Holmes (Director ofChoral Activities at Millikin University), Dr. Kimberly Dunn Adams, and Professor GregJasperse for their never-ending guidance and support.

Dayne Newberry is a current graduate student inChoral Conducting at WMU where he studies withDr. Kimberly Dunn Adams. At Western, he has thepleasure of directing Gold Company II and CampusChoir while also maintaining a busy scheduleperforming with Gold Company and UniversityChorale. The Choral Conducting program atWestern does not normally intersect with the vocaljazz program, but his diverse musical backgroundmakes him a perfect fit for participating in bothdepartments.

Dayne Newberry

Lily AlterLily Alter is an 18-year-old freshman Vocal Jazz Performance major from Oak Park, IL. She is an Alto I

in GCII, she was a member of the music committee for GC42. Lily is grateful to be a part of anamazing program that has such a meaningful legacy. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as

she enjoyed rehearsing it!

Madelyn AtwoodMadelyn Atwood is an 18 year-old freshman studying choral music education. She is from Jackson,

MI, and she graduated from Northwest High School in 2019. She is a soprano in GCII, Anima, andCollegiate Singers. This is her first year in the Gold Company program. She wants to make a shout-out to her (incredibly musically talented) siblings, Leah and William. She also wants to thank JaredCopeland for inspiring her as a musician and being a great friend, and her parents, Matthew and

Amy Atwood for always supporting her in her musical endeavors.

Grace BetzoldGrace Betzold is a Jazz Studies major from Martinsville, IN. She is a soprano in GCII and loves singing

in groups more than anything else! This is her first year at Western and in the Gold Companyprogram, and she is so excited to be a part of something so unique and special. She would like tothank her family and friends for always supporting her crazy dreams and her great friends here at

Western for being such a good support system. Hopefully you love the show as much as everyone inthe program has loved putting it together!

Emily BrownEmily Brown is currently a third year music education student in the WMU trumpet studio. GCII is

the first vocal ensemble they have participated in. They are 21 years old and from Dundee, MI. Emilyis grateful for their musical experiences and the loved ones that supported them every step of the

way!

Kyler BykerKyler is a first year transfer student from Grand Rapids Community College’s equivalency programfor Music Therapy. There, they received their Associate’s degree in music while studying classical

guitar performance. It was also there that they got their first taste of vocal jazz while singing inShades Of Blue under the direction of Gold Company alumni Jed Scott. Kyler has been singing in

choirs since elementary school and appreciates the collaborative nature of vocal music.

Aris ChalinAris Chalin is a freshman in GCII at Western Michigan University, majoring in Jazz Performance. Hehas called Ann Arbor, MI, his home for the past eight years. Aris has been singing and playing pianofor 11 years, performing internationally with the Blue Lake International Choir Ensemble. He found

his love for jazz playing in combos at Community High School in Ann Arbor. Two of those highschool jazz combos, So Fly Zone and Unified Field Theory, received Student Music Awards from

DOWNBEAT Magazine in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Aris would like to thank his parents, Greg Jasperse,Matthew Fries, Victor Wooten, and Jack Wagner for their continued encouragement and love.

Anastasia ChubbAnastasia (Ana) Chubb is a 19 year old jazz studies major at western. Originally born in England, she

moved to Kalmazoo 12 years ago and has been pursuing singing since then. She is proud to be amember of GC II, and the Gold Company program, and would like to thank her family for

supporting her journey into Vocal Jazz. 

Seth FerrierSeth Ferrier is a freshman voice major who plans to enter the music therapy program this

upcoming fall. He joined Gold Company II this semester and is so excited to be able to perform foreveryone! He is from Marysville, MI, and is 18 years old. Seth would like to give a shout out to all theband playing along with us and for everyone in Gold Company and Gold Company II for being so

welcoming of him. Seth would like to thank his family and friends because without them hewouldn't be on stage.

Caleb HeemstraCaleb Heemstra is a Sophomore Music Education student from Ann Arbor, MI, and is a member of

GCII.  This is his first year in the group, and he’s been loving every minute of it! Outside of this group,Caleb participates in Amphion choir and is the music director for the WMU Broncords a cappella

group!  He is thankful for all the support from his family, friends, and especially his fellow GoldCompany program members who have been so supportive and inspirational in the process of

preparing this show!

Jaydenn KneppJaydenn Knepp is a Sophomore Choral Music Education major from Clinton Township, MI. This is

Jaydenn’s second year as a member of GCII and she is ecstatic to be making music alongside suchbrilliant people. She would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support and give a

shoutout to her current and past vocal teachers who have pushed her to dive into new musicalopportunities outside of the classical world! She hopes you enjoy the show!

Faith QuashieFaith Quashie is a sophomore Jazz Studies Voice Performance major from Brooklyn, NY. This is her

second year being apart of the Gold Company program in GCII. This is her first year beingPR/Marketing producer and wants to thank her amazing team for all the work they put in this year!She can't wait for everyone to see the show and feel all the love on stage. She is blessed to be apart

of such a stellar group of musicians and can't wait for next year’s show!

Jack ReevesJack Reeves is a freshman at Western Michigan University studying music composition. Originallyfrom Grand Rapids, MI, Jack (18) joined GCII at the beginning of the 2020 Spring semester, and is

thrilled to be a part of such a magnificent program of jazz musicians. He is thankful for theincredible and diverse musical opportunities he has had the opportunity to experience and learn

from so far while at Western, and looks forward to many more to come!Enjoy the show!

Alex J. RepyakAlex Repyak is a senior, studying Music Therapy. He is from Brighton, MI. Alex is 22 years old and this

is his first year in GCII. Alex would like to thank his family, friends, and girlfriend Alexandra for all oftheir support through his college career and his journey through the Gold Company program.

Benjamin RiceBenjamin Rice is currently a junior at WMU, although it is his first year in the music program. He wasborn in Novi, MI, where his love for music blossomed through many different musical groups, both

school related and otherwise. After graduating from Novi High School in 2017, Ben immediatelychose WMU due to their highly praised music programs. He plans to graduate in 2022 with a

Bachelor's in Music Arts with a minor in Multimedia Technology.

Hannah StrayhornHannah Strayhorn is thrilled to join GC II this semester. She will graduate from WMU this April with

a degree in Music Education. Hannah's first jazz experience was trying out for the middle school jazzband on piano in her hometown of St. Joseph, MI. In college, Hannah played piano and sang withthe jazz bands at Ball State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Musical TheatreDirecting in 2015. Hannah would like to thank Aaron Engleman and Mark Buselli for teaching her

jazz, and the entire GC community for welcoming her as one of their own.

Levi Taple Levi Taple is currently a Freshman Jazz Studies Major at Western Michigan Univeristy. He’s from

Minneapolis, MN, and originally fell in love with music when he began guitar lessons at the age ofsix. He also was able to play in the Walker West Music Academy jazz band, under the instruction ofFelix James and attend Encore Coda summer camp where he studied under Kevin Norton. He is

grateful for his past teachers and mentors and looks forward to continuing his music education atWestern. 

Alec TiltonAlec is a junior physics/mathematics double major from Rochelle, IL. This is his second year in the

Gold Company Program. He is happy to be in GCII this year. He would like to thank his family,friends, and teachers past and present for helping him on this musical and personal journey to find

his way to WMU and into Gold Company. He hopes you enjoy the show!

Jacob WolfeJacob Wolfe is from Okemos, MI, and is a third year student in the Multimedia Arts Technologyprogram. In addition to running sound for GCII, he works as an assistant sound tech at WIDR,

assistant engineer at La Luna Recording & Sound, live sound engineer at Papa Pete’s, andAudio/Video technician at Smart Homes. He would like to thank the fabulous WMU students who

make up Gold Company & GC II, directors Greg Jasperse and Dayne Newberry, and fellow amazingsound technicians in the program. Enjoy the show!
