November 2019 DALMATIANS DESERVE IT ! Dear Helen Ball Parents and Students, We are thankful for the opportunity to serve the best community in SISD. November is a month of giving thanks and showing gratitude. Showing gratitude is important as it has effects on strengthening our Dalmatian's self-esteem and well-being. Students and parents are invited to write a gratitude message on leaves that will feature in our gratitude wall. Our efforts this month will be on improving school attendance. Our recent attendance was 86%. When your child is not in school they are missing out on their education and potentially falling behind their classmates. Please help us by reaching our goal of 98% by helping your scholar make it count all day every day. School and parent communication have positive effects on student learning. So we invite you to update your cell number and email to receive our weekly overview. Don’t miss out! Update your information today. Thank you! We are inviting students and parents to stop by the foyer and write on our “GRATITUDE Wall/Banner”. What is the purpose of our Gratitude project? It is a daily practice of purposeful appreciation of one’s life through interactive art and/or messages. The project engages students and parents to 1) Contemplate a source of gratitude in their lives and 2) Provide an outlet to express that thought of thankfulness at our school. This accessible outlet will act as a ‘reminder’ or a GRATITUDE STOP, where a person reflects on something they are grateful for. Then, take it a step further by actually writing what they are grateful for. Our hope is that parents, students and employees at HBE will take time to reflect on what they are grateful for and share it on our “GRATITUDE Wall/Banner”. We ask simply: REMINDER: We are in need of Career Fair presenters. If you would like to talk to our students about your job or know of any parents that could join us on November 14 th from 7:30a-12p, please contact Mrs. Washington at 937-8217. We will provide breakfast for our presenters. Thank you! www.sisd.net/helenballes WE ARE DALMATIAN NATION - Since 1995 - Ana Soto Dr. Adrian Ramirez Principal Asst.
