Two young anddynamic students ofDeccan -based
Marathwada Mi t raManda l Co l l ege o fArchitecture studying inthird year have won thisyear's Birla White YuvaRatna Award. This contestwas f l oated by Bir laWhite, division of GrasimIndustries Limited and isopen to all architecturalcollege students in Indiaand abroad.
The competition was heldin two categories namelyGlobal Knowledge Centreand Knowledge media cen-
tre. Around 2400 studentsparticipated in the contest.Ashish Athawale won thefirst prize of Rs 15,000, atrophy and a certificate inthe Knowledge media cen-tre category and SameerAndre won the secondprize of Rs 10,000, a tro-phy and a certificate in theKnowledge media centrecategory. These studentswere guided by coordina-tor Prof. Shubangi Shiroleand other faculty mem-bers Prof Ravi Nene, ProfSheetal Chaudhari andProf. Smita Suryawanshi.Faculty member Prof.
Shubhangi was given a sil-ver medal and a certifi-cate for her role as theteam guide.

This year's special attrac-t ion was PersonalityPageant Show. Upcomingmodels did a ramp walk ona colorful stage with lightsand music. This event alsogives platform to youth toexpress their talent. After
achieving success in thisshow they can get a wildcard entry to participate inFemina Miss India compe-tition, claim the organizers.
Many games like bowl-ing, dart game, basket ballattracted the kids as wellas their parents. Therewere many stalls of corpo-rates right from educa-tional institutions to realestate to give informationabout their products.
"This festival is very goodplatform for the business
organization. We providedetailed information aboutour services" says JPSDayal Director of Simtej7Academy.

Fun and exhibition for a cause
Redcarpet Hospitality and CulinaryAcademy hosted a Hyderabadi cui-sine demonstration followed by a
cooking competition for Pune's expatriatesas part of MCCIA's Pune plugged festi-val. Chef Ravish Arora conducted thedemonstration in the state-of-the-art culi-nary studio at Redcarpet.
Chef Arora introduced participants toHyderabadi cuisine, its history, ingredientsand favourite dishes. The demonstrationbegan with Korme ke Kebab followed byLukmi, a variation of the samosa, Next wasthe main course of Hyderabadi Murgkorma, chicken in yogurt based gravyflavoured with cashew nuts, followed byMirchi ka Saalan, Bhavnagiri chillies ina spicy-sour gravy prepared with poppyseeds, peanuts and tamarind which servedas an accompaniment to Dum Biryani.The demonstration ended with the deli-cious dessert, Khubani ka Meetha, stewedapricots with cream.
The participants were full of questionsand various ingredients and some dish-es were circulated to taste. The demon-stration was followed by an exciting, fast-paced cooking competition accompanied
by frantic questions and instructions indifferent languages as expatriates triedtheir hand at Indian cuisine. The com-petition was judged by Chef Gev Desai,Corporate Executive Chef, ITC andAdvisory Council member at RedcarpetAcademy and Mukesh Malhot raPresident of MCCIAand MD of Weikfield.The guests were treated to a deliciouslunch which offered a spread of Indian andinternational cuisine. The lucky winnersand runners up received gift vouchers.
