Bootlegger heldwith 50 pouches

today arrested a bootleggerand recovered 50 pouches ofliquor from his possession atBelicharana.
He has been identified asOm Prakash Thakur son ofBaldev Thakur, a resident ofJharkhand, presently puttingup at Belicharana.
At the time of his arrest,police recovered 50 pouchesof liquor from his possession.
Arrest was made by apolice party headed by SubInspector Ranjeet Singh Rao,Incharge Belicharana PolicePost. A case has been regis-tered against the accused.
AKRS to celebrate birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh

J&K, has decided to celebrate birth anniversary of MaharajaHari Singh.
Addressing a press conference here today, Narayan Singh,president, AKRS, said that the Sabha will celebrate birthanniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji from September 20 to 23at different locations across length and breadth of JammuDivision.
He said in this connection a mega event is being organizedat Samba on September 20, at Billawar on September 21, atKathua on September 22 and at Jammu and Ramban onSeptember 23, where thousands of people are expected to par-ticipate.
Various dignitaries such as Dr Nirmal Singh (Deputy ChiefMinister), Ch Lal Singh (Health Minister), Devender SinghRana (MLA Nagrota), Devendra Manyal (MLA Samba), JeevanLal (MLA Bani) and Vikramaditya (MLC) will participate inthese events.

Valley traders ask PDP to comeclean over VHP statement

SRINAGAR, Sept 19:Angered over Vishwa HinduParishad (VHP) statement ofstarving people’s of Kashmirvalley over beef ban, the tradecommunity here today askedthe ruling People’s DemocraticParty (PDP) to come clean overthe matter and urged Jammutraders not to fall prey to divi-sive elements.

Two succumb toburn injuries

women today succumbed totheir burn injuries here atGovernment Medical Collegeand Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
According to a policespokesperson, the deceasedhave been identified as SunitaDevi (45) wife of BalwanSingh, a resident of Kalakoteand Geeta Devi (45) wife ofBodh Raj, a resident ofDablehar in RS Pura.
He said that Sunita Devi wasshifted to GMCH Jammu onSeptember 23 after she alleged-ly set self on fire at her resi-dence in Kalakote while Geetawas undergoing treatment hereat GMCH after she was burnt ina mysterious fire at her resi-dence in Dabed area of RS Pura.
The spokesman said that thebodies of both the deceasedhave been handed over to theirlegal heirs for last rites afterconducting postmortem.

A large number of devoteesdrawn from different parts ofJammu and outside the State par-ticipated in the annual functionwhich every year is held duringthe Ganesh Utsav since the con-struction of a grand temple hereby the Trust after the mass exo-dus of Pandits from Valley.
The Temple is the replica ofSidhi Vinayak Shrine of HanandChawalgam in South Kashmirdistrict of Kulgam said Prof O NKaul general secretary of theTrust in his welcome address tothe gathering.
He said a grand temple wasconstructed by the Trust with thesupport of all Biradri membersand philanthropists on the pat-tern of south Indian Architecture.He said a Gouri Bhawan is underconstruction in the temple com-plex at present consisting of twohalls of 4000 sq feet.
The function was inaugurat-ed by Vice Chancellor, KalyaniUniversity Kolkatta, Prof RattanLal Hangloo, Prof KailashMehra Sadhu a renowned singer,Swami Pran Nath Bhat Gareeban Aadyatmik Guru and JagarNath Handoo Chairman of theTrust.
Dr Kailash Mehra mesmer-ized the devotees during theBhajan Sandiya with her devo-tional bhajans. She was also hon-oured by the Trust later.
On the occasion, 1111 Diyaswere lit with people donating Rs1111 for per Diya. This was donefor raising funds by the Trust toaccomplish its future task. TheTrust is planning to open an pro-fessional training institute for thecommunity students in nearfuture, said Prof Kaul.

Police has arrested three gam-blers, who were playing cards atBathing Ghat, Banganga.
The accused were identifiedas Mohinder Singh ofThakrakote Arnas, Satpal ofThakrakote and Rashpaul ofGaadi Arnas, who were work-ing as Ponywallas on the trackfrom Banganga to Bhawan.Stake money of Rs 5300 alongwithy playing cards were alsorecovered from their posses-sion.
The accused have beenbooked under 13 Gambling Act.

of an unidentified female wasrecovered from the reservoir ofBaglihar Dam at Chanderkote.
As per police sources, bodyof a young lady was recoveredfrom the reservoir of BagliharDam at Chanderkote.
After getting information,police rushed to the spot andshifted the body to mortuary ofDistrict Hospital Ramban foridentification.
A case in this regard has alsobeen registered at Chanderkotepolice station and investigationstarted.
Majid Khan warns against retiring employees

Majid Khan, president of AllJ&K Low Paid EmployeesFederation, has expressed hisserious concern over the StateGovernment's purported moveto retire employees after 33years of service or 60 years ofage, whichever is earlier.
In a statement, he calledupon the Government to desistfrom doing and warned thatthe Federation would resistany such move.
Mr Khan demanded reduc-tion in qualifying service to 20years in view of raise in theupper age limit for recruitmentto enable the employees toearn full pensionery benefits.He also demanded enhancedmonthly Medical Allowanceto the employees and pension-ers.
