We are excited to offer this workshop to pianists age 12 through adult. Russian piano music, while perhaps not considered absolute staples of the pianist’s repertoire, offers some of the most memorable composers and themes. Orchestras, especially, play Russian music regularly and many Russian pianists and teachers in the U.S. are increasingly programming this memorable music. The workshop will take place from Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 19, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Daily classes will focus on technique, theory, form and literature. Students will take mini-lessons and master classes with Summer Camp faculty. Recitals by faculty will be given from 3:00 p.m.-4:15 p.m. and are included in the workshop fee. General admission tickets for recitals for non-participants will be sold at the Recital Hall of the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center for $5. Students should bring 1 or 2 piano pieces to study during the workshop, not necessarily Russian. Registered students perform at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at the Student Recital in the Laidlaw Recital Hall. Admission is free to the public.
