Message from Father

Dear Parishioners,

I would like to invite you to join me in welcoming the Sister Water

Project to our Parish on January 30. You might be asking, “Why

should our parish support the Sister Water Project?” The Dubuque Franciscan Sisters

too wondered how they could make a difference in the global water crisis. After years

of studying, they discovered that 1 in 20 people in the world do not have access to clean

water. Motivated by this need, they founded the Sister Water Project in 2004 to bring

potable water to the people of Honduras and Tanzania. Through collaboration with

villagers in both countries, and with the support of their donors, the Sister Water

Project has completed/restored 200 water projects. They are committed to protecting

the precious resource of water, to advocate for everyone’s right to clean water, and to

do their part to make it accessible to the most vulnerable. Together they are God’s

hands and feet working to provide the basic necessity of water while improving the

quality of life where water was once scarce.

Let US join them! “I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink.” (Matthew 25:35).

Please attend one of three presentations, 1pm, 4:30pm and 7:15pm, on January 30 at

the Parish Education Center.

Do you have a will? Making a

will isn’t expensive but not

having a will can be. There are

many complexities involved for families when there is no

will. Outlining how an estate is to be given to loved ones and

those charities, including St. Cecilia Parish will likely reduce

if not eliminate those challenges. For more, information on

leaving a legacy gift to St. Cecilia, contact Frank Oppold at

515-290-1163.

Eucharistic Adoration - 12 Biblical Reasons

#5: Each moment that you spend in His

Eucharistic Presence will INCREASE HIS DIVINE

LIFE WITHIN YOU and deepen your personal

relationship and friendship with Him. "I have

come that you may have life and have it more

abundantly. I am the Vine and you are the branches,

whoever remains in union with Me shall bear much fruit, for

without Me, you can do nothing." (John 10:10, 15:5).

St. Cecilia's offers scheduled Eucharistic Adoration as

opportunity to regularly spend time with Jesus developing a

relationship of love. Hesitant? Give it a 3 week trial! Choose

an hour that works best for you; if you can be flexible, the

hours of most need are: Saturday 12am midnight & 9am,

Wednesday 2am. Contact the coordinator at

[email protected] or signup online at

www.stceciliaparish.org.

WOMEN’S RETREAT: The Christian Experience Weekend

(CEW) is a renewal weekend for adults, designed to enable

them to more deeply “experience” themselves and their

relationship to God and the Christian community. A women’s

CEW will be held at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic

Church in Ankeny beginning the evening of Friday, January 18

and concluding the afternoon of Sunday, January 20. For more

information, contact Nicole Vortherms via email

([email protected]) or via phone

(515-423-6040). You can also visit

Stewardship: The three kings in today’s Gospel traveled a

great distance at a considerable cost to offer their richest gifts

to the Infant Jesus. How far will I go and what will I offer to do

homage to this newborn King and Savior?

Marriage Corner: “Behold, Magi from the east arrived in

Jerusalem.” (Mt. 2:2). The wise still seek Jesus. What gifts of

wisdom do you possess? A lesson learned from your

childhood? A proverb that steers your life? A virtue to which

you’ve struggled to be true?
