Copper bounced back on Thursday

Brent crude recovered from steep losses on Thursday

Gold fell from record highs on Thursday but remained in demand by investors seeking

safety from market volatility triggered by fears Europe's debt crisis could spread to

France. Copper bounced back on Thursday as upbeat labour market data from the United

States helped ease some fears about the economy, while an appreciation of China's

currency also boosted the metal as it suggested the country was confident about growth

prospects. Brent crude recovered from steep losses on Thursday in volatile trading as a

rebound by equities helped oil bounce after it was weighed down by concerns about

French banks
