Gold hit record highs on Wednesday on safe-haven buying linked to the European debt

crisis and a dollar weakened by hints of more economic stimulus from the Federal

Reserve Chairman. U.S. crude oil rose 1.4 percent, its biggest gain in two weeks to

hover near $99 a barrel after a report from the Energy Information Administration

showed crude stockpiles falling more than the market expected last week.
