"We wanted to have a better start. We are sad that we lost the match. I think the Netherlands scored twelve goals by counter attack. We didn't manage to stop their fast breaks. But we still have two more chances."

On Germany's chances to go to the main round after the defeat:

Now we absolutely have to win our next two matches. From tomorrow on we will concentrate on the game against Croatia.

On the reasons for Germany's defeat:

"This only happened because we conceded too goals after counter attacks. We didn't show our real face."

On the preparation for the next match against Croatia:

"Today we look on our mistakes. But from tomorrow on we have to be focused for the next game. We will fight."

On her role as team motivator:

"I always want to push my girls. I do that all the time. Sometimes it's just some motivational words, sometimes it's something I see from behind that we can do better or sometimes I say something about the players because I know what they want to do."

On his team's defeat:

"We started pretty okay. But then Netherlands were more aggressive in defence. We were not playing directly enough towards the goal. That was an invitation for counter attacks. We have to learn from this game and to focus on Croatia now."

On her feelings after the win:

"It feels good! I think we can play better but the first game was so important to win!"

On the problems in the first half:

"There have very tall players in their middle block, so we needed to play more offensive and then we were able to score more goals."

"I think it was great, we played a good match but we can play even better. We can enjoy this victory now, but we have to forget it and Sweden is the next opponent we face. I think they have a good team and we have to prepare ourselves."

On the performance of German goalkeeper Clara Woltering:

"I think she is an amazing goalkeeper, I think she is one of the best in the world at this moment."

Henk Groener (NED) - head coach

On the match:

"We started well going two goals in front but then Germany took the game over and we did not play aggressive enough and that's why we took the time out. We had to interrupt their offence more often because we also wanted to play our fast game and to play handball. And from that moment we started to do that better. So at half-time we were in the lead and we continued to do so after the break. We took a lead of seven goals and some of the girls did become a little bit nervous because they did not expect such a big lead. But in the end I think it was deserved victory."

On facing Sweden on Wednesday:

"Sweden are the number one team in this group normally. I think we will play against another 6-0-defence. They have strong players. We have to bring our speed and creativity into the game and then we will see where Sweden stands after the game."

"It will be a very strong and tough game. We lost today and they also lost. It will be a hard game, but we have to be ourselves and have to play our game and relax a little bit because we have a lot of support. We play at home and we have to win it!"

"It was a very difficult match, but we knew this because all matches at European Championships are very difficult and intense. We passed several critical situations during the match and we are really happy for the final result. "It was really a hard game, because Serbia are a difficult opponent and it's the first game for us. We committed really lots of mistakes, especially lots mistake in our shots. We will be better in the second match against Slovakia."

"I don't feel the pressure, really. I don't feel the pressure in the seven-metre shots. For me it is a normal shot, as all the others in a match. Really, I don't have any pressure."

"Our attack was much better in the second half. Maybe we had too many problems with guarding the line player of Montenegro (Suzana Lazovic) in the last 20 minutes. In fact, we did not commit many technical errors, we did not have many bad passes, but we did to many attacking fouls as usual as we play against Montenegro."

"We were not focused enough at the key moments of the match. Our focus while shooting has to be better in the next matches. I feel really sorry that we lost this one."

"We don't know exactly what happened but it looks like her hand is in a bad condition. She will have to undergo further medical treatment."
