of course) on this exam is the sole exception listed below All students in CS 445 are allowed to use one (1) reference card, as

long as it fulfills ALL of the following requirements: It is no larger than standard letter size (8.5” x 11”) Only one side may have writing; the other side must be blank (please put

your name and e-mail ID on the other side) It may not be a photocopy (or other reproduction) of another person’s

reference card You must turn it in with your exam It must be your own work. While you are welcome to have worked together

with others on the card, all the work on the card must be EITHER: Your sole work, or Joint work where you put in an equal amount of effort

Note that you cannot share a reference card with somebody else during the exam

Project thoughts

Should take about 60 hours per person That’s 15 hours per week

Ideas A game of some kind. 3-D games preferred, but 2-D may be

allowable. Making stuff with fractals -- mountains, clouds, terrain, etc. (same

algorithm can do both). Today’s lecture discusses fractals Procedural modeling (sea shells (siggraph paper from '92), more

complex stuff). Today’s lecture will see this as well. 4-D fractals using quarternions -- how do you visualize it in 3D? Morphing (totally 2-D). Or any sort of sophisticated image

processing Extend a ray tracer Ideas from the research talks next week
