The Daffodil Show!

All daffodil shows involve 'staging' the blooms, so theylook their best for the judges. This year, manyconvention attendees pitched in to stage blooms

Page 7: DAFFODIL Daffodil Society of 50(1E1Y OF MINNESOTA Minnesota · Some of the 1000 daffodils planted last fall at the hotel! Minnesota's weather limited gardeners' local blooms, but

brought by others. And then the judges went to workevaluating each bloom. Because there are many'classes', there are many ribbons awarded!

Mitch Carney (L) chaired the daffodil show, and still found time to stagesome of the blooms he brought from Maryland! Bob Spotts (R) helps stage

as well

The Friday tour also stopped at the Sculpture Garden and the Stone ArchBridge over the Mississippi.

While the blooms were being judged on Friday, some attendees enjoyedthe optional visit to Minneapolis Parks.

Here, Minnehaha Falls was roaring after heavy spring rains.

On Saturday afternoon we visited the Minnesota LandscapeArboretum. Some daffodils were blooming, as well as spring wild

flowers. And the weather was perfect!

The Sunday tour's first stop was Jenn Lanz's darling 'Wonderland Garden',where her daffodils were rapidly opening.

Sunday's next stop was the daffodil fields outside of Ellsworth, WI. Mostdaffodils were not yet blooming, but Michael Berrigan had several of his

seedlings for us to admire.

Of course we stopped at the Ellsworth Creamery for a treat before heading

back to the hotel!

On Sunday morning, Becky Fox Matthews presented a "Daffodil Jeopardy"game as the Judges Refresher class. It was wonderfully creative, and great

fun for all attendees!

The "Daffodil Jeopardy" game is now available on the ADS websitewww.dafftube.org. It is a PowerPoint, so would require that softwarein order to use it.
