Ten we will hear how the fragility of life and love can turn to violence in Fair Daodils and Te Banks of the Ohio. Te Mercy Seat embodies the all-too-common delusion of justifying evil in the name of good, as well as punishment for our crimes. Te transformative power of contrition and repentance is presented in What I Have Done, a pairing of the familiar songs Amazing Grace and House of the Rising Sun. Finally and hopefully, we feel the possibility of forgiveness from those we hurt in Franz Biebls Ave Maria and Te 23rd Psalm (dedicated to my mother), a work that blends the familiar psalm with an ode to the life-giving love of our mothers.
