In this task I am going to study about the different types of output media such as phones, monitors and printers. I will be researching about these types in more detail as I believe these are very important because they are commonly used by every graphics designers that want to edit or change an image.

The way in which the development of output medium has had an impact on the design and the creation of the graphic images is by having vector images that look real life so it is clearer and appealing for people to look at. The reason for this is that before there used to be older monitor cases that were not as thin, because it is a round deep and are Cathode Ray tube monitors. Whereas now there are modern monitors that are thinner which means that the case isn’t more than a few centimeters deep and are generally LCD, which is also known as the Liquid Crystal Display or thin Film Transistors. A computer monitor includes the display device that lets you see programs, pictures and documents, and there is also security on the computer. The monitors come in different sizes, but do the exact same thing. Therefore it is the most common output device and there are different types of monitors for example modern and older monitors. New monitors have better displays compared to older moniters for example the apple Mac pc has a LED backlit display which means it doesn’t take time for the display to warm up before they reach maximum brightness, an LED-backlit display is instantly on and uniformly bright. LED backlighting also lets you finely tune the iMac display to suit the ambient light in even the dimmest room.

A printer is an External device that communicates with another digital device to print what a user sees on the screen. Also printers use small pixels to transfer an image from the system to another surface. The way in which the development of printers has had an impact on the design and the creation of the graphics is, because if people wanted to receive good quality printing then they would have to buy a printer that is more expensive. Whereas now people don’t have to buy an expensive printer to receive good quality graphics. This is because the Inkjet printers have a small nozzle that squirts tiny drops of ink onto the paper. The reason why IT professionals would use this is, because it is cheap to buy and easy to run, however it can be slow for the complex printing. In addition there are a wide range of printers that people can buy now and these are inkjet printers, colour laser printers and Solid Ink Printers. the creation of the graphics is, because there are new features available on one machine so the specific needs of the customers are being met as they are able to do everything themselves. This means that there is a scanner, a photocopier and a fax machine.

Mobile phones have also had an impact on the design and the creation of graphics because people are able to take a picture from their phones and edit it onto the computer. Whereas now people are able to edit it on their phones and Bluetooth it to the computer or printer which is not time-consuming and more efficient. For example on the Iphone 4s there is an app called Power cam which enables people to customize their photos with Tilt shift, Magic shot, Colour Splash and Face timer. Therefore the phone has many editing tools in order for the images to look fun and interesting. The reason why this specific software would appeal to many people is because they are able to create and view their images in a different aspect. When creating an image you have to think about how people are going to view it, this maybe from a computer monitor to a mobile phone, as in this case I am talking about a mobile phone, I believe that the image size needs to be small as you are viewing it from a small screen, if you have a large image you may not be able to view it on a phone as it the file is too big for the phone to load. allows high display of pixel density so our eyes cannot distinguish individual pixels which means images on the screen are a lot sharper.

Overall I believe that as technology becomes more advanced we will have better phones and moniters to be able to view images in precise detail, as there will always be a output media that is great this year but not so great next because technology is always advancing.
