    1 FOREWORD

This standard has been developed by the NORSOK standardisation work group and agreed by the Norwegian industry for the widest possible national and international application.

    5 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    5.1 General

The Bulk System shall receive, store and deliver required volume of bulk material to the mud and cementing system.

    5.7 Operational Requirements

The bulk material shall be kept dry and fluffed during storage.

Precaution shall be included to prevent plugging of the transfer lines during operation. The bulk system shall be flexible to add or delete extra storage tanks to adjust the storage

capacity to accommodate the drilling program and supply frequency. Bulk storage tanks may be equipped with safety valves or rupture discs. Rupture discs can

only be used for bulk storage tanks installed in open areas. For bulk storage tanks in enclosed areas, testable safety valves that are vented out of the enclosed area shall be used. Such enclosed areas shall similarly be ventilated to avoid pressure build-up in the event of a fracture or leakage in the piping for the air supply system.

Possibility for transfer of dry bulk between storage tanks shall be accommodated. No bulk material shall evacuate with the transport air during normal operation. The cement and barite/bentonite system shall be separated. No valves, nozzles, etc. to be located inside bulk tanks in order to avoid entering of the

    tanks.
