ensure correct installation.
* If using steel joists, use turpentine or
methylated spirits to clean the top of the
joist. This will ensure that the glue will
adhere to the surface.
* Only timber with low shrinkage should
be used in wide board applications. This
will avoid any issues that might arise due
to expansion and contraction of the
decking.

Step Three
Insert a DeckMate DIY clip into the groove at
the intersection of the joist. Fasten clip into
place by using the DeckMate DIY screw.
These will need to be inserted on a slight
angle. Be careful not to over-tighten. When
required, use the DeckMate DIY clip to butt
join decking over joists.
Step Four
Insert the next row of decking boards onto
the DeckMate DIY clip using deck clamps to
hold the boards in position. Repeat steps 3 &
4 until the last run.
Step Two
Apply a 6mm bead of flexible external adhesive
along the top of each joist. Be sure to apply only
enough adhesive to lay one decking board at a
time. We recommend Soudal’s T-Rex Power
Adhesive. This process is to be continued
throughout the entire deck. Fasten the first row of
decking onto the joists by top fixing the traditional
way. This will also be the fixing method for the last
row of decking.
