In the light of the banner program of the Division of San Pablo City Del Remedio District aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning across the school and provides a shared framework, with which to further raise the standard of teaching and learning. It provides a framework that goes far beyond a lesson planning tool. It influences every aspect of the school, including culture, ethos, behaviours, vision and values.

Share a Cup of TEA (Teachers Experiences)a la Carte

• Rationale: This is mainly about sharing teachers’ experience, way of teaching and other strategies particularly in English to other teachers especially in the first grade. There are experienced First Grade teachers in the district, shall we say seasoned teachers whose expertise are beyond reproach. Integrating the latter in everyday teaching will make our learners aware and eventually love their own roots as they grow older.

Their practices that made their learners succeed in their everyday learning endeavors should be shared to others so as to enlighten other teachers especially First Grade teachers who are the focus of this particular project. Our young learners nowadays are not aware of our own folk songs, rhymes and poems that made our culture rich and unique.

How to do it

First Grade teachers will meet at one place. A teacher will serve as demonstration teacher as identified by the district supervisor herself during her visits to different schools. The demo teacher will showcase the natural setting of her class, teaches them English subject, she will show how she teaches using rhymes, old songs and short poems. The rest of the teachers will observe. Post conference will be done using CB Past checklist. What struck the observers will be shared too.

A journal on how they could improve their own teaching will be solicited from the teachers/observers and will be submitted the next meeting. As an offshoot other first grade teacher will demonstrate the use of songs, rhymes and old songs or other strategy as inspired by the first demonstration. Demonstration teaching will be continued until the last week of January of the next year. Monitoring and evaluation form will be provided to school heads. Follow up of school heads will also be requested for sustainability. Evaluation of the project will be conducted together with the school heads and teachers themselves.

ITCS -Improving Teachers Communication Skill

This is a 80-hour workshop on effective oral communication for the teachers teaching English. This aims to make professionals not only speakers who have good pronunciation and enunciation but also speakers who are socio-linguistically appropriate in different contexts and situations. Different activities will be provided to teachers online. An evaluation form will be filled out by the teachers themselves at the end of the program(see attached)

VEST- Values Enhancement for School heads and Teachers

Values Enhancement session on mental and spiritual peace, stress management and physical wellness activity for School LeadersRATIONALE•To heed the call of the Division on enhancing teacher’s values this activity was conceptualized. This activity reviews the participants’ work values in the light of corporate values and the components of ethical decision-making that might play a role in work productivity, decision making and even individual and corporate survival as work organizations chart their course in the limitless and increasingly competitive global community.

Revitalizing “Mano Po”

Rationale: With the outgrowing population of school children in the 21st century, in the heights of computers and electronic gadgets, the schools need to address the issue of showing respect to elders. Schools must exert extra effort to inculcate in their young minds the need to uphold the good moral and right conduct which at the present time is observed to be dying.

This will keep the moral values of school children in showing respect to elders as Filipinos used to do. It is not only in the school that the children show respect to elders and teachers but the act must also be carried at home and everywhere they go. As the pupils say Mano Po”, they in turn feel connected with the teachers as well as feel blessed.

Mechanics

This will be done in the classroom five minutes after flag ceremony. At first the teacher will provide a saying, read it, post it in a conspicuous place in the classroom then tell how the saying affect her personally. She then call one or two pupils to do the same but the rest of the pupils will write their own reaction or sharing on what they read. The same procedure will be repeated the following week and so on so forth. The teacher could also ask the pupils to recite the learned sayings.
