PIVOT Xpedition PCB Service Overview
Starting any project with new software can introduce risks. The best way to avoid any risks, increase time to
productivity and shorten the learning curve is to introduce someone with experience and a thorough understanding
of the technology. Mentor has expert resources and reliable processes to reduce effort and risk when you start
designs with your new Mentor software.
Mentor Graphics has addressed the challenges of adopting new software and functionality with a combination of
reliable assessment tools that can evaluate whether your environment is ready, and Customer Application Engineers
(CAEs) who are experienced in Mentor software use. These knowledgeable CAEs will work with your team to
ensure best practices in your design flow process using the latest Xpedition PCB software.
Before starting a new design using Xpedition PCB , the Mentor team will work directly with you to perform a
thorough assessment of your current environment and provide recommendations to ready your environment for the
latest production release of Mentor software. Once your environment is ready, using structured process steps the
Mentor CAE will work with you to verify a successful design start using Xpedition PCB. New features and pre-
existing requirements are considered before you being a new design. Finally, the Mentor CAE transfers knowledge
about Best Practices and Productivity enhancements included in the latest release to your team members through a
series of half day webinars.

During this portion of the service a Mentor Physical Layout Engineer:
· Provides guidance to your team on the tools
· Utilizing known best practices that take you through from the start to required manufacturing outputs of a new PCB design
· If identified, works to resolve potential bottlenecks that could impact productivity.
· Evaluates further training needs
Productivity Training
During half day WebEx sessions, the CAE will review what’s new and beneficial as well as providing updates to your issues addressed in the latest release.
Hardware & Network Infrastructure Assessment
During this portion of the engagement, an Infrastructure CAE:
Evaluates the existing install infrastructure using a detailed questionnaire to assist in the review
Develops an infrastructure plan & report
