Health Hazard Information:Acute EffectsSwallowed May cause gastric irritation.Eye A moderate eye irritant.Skin Repeated or prolonged skin contact may

lead to irritation.Inhaled Not normally an inhalation risk due to low

    vapour pressure ambient temperatures.Chronic Effects

Knowledge is based on that of theconstituents. Repeated or prolonged skincontact can cause irritation.

First Aid:Swallowed Rinse mouth thoroughly with water

immediately. Give water to drink.Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical assistance.

Eye Immediately irrigate with copious amounts ofwater for at least 15 minutes. Eyelids to beheld open. In all cases of eye contamination,it is a sensible precaution to seek medical advice.

Advice to Doctor Treat symptomatically.Toxicity Data no data available for the compounded product.

    Precautions for Use:Exposure Standards

No data is available for the compounded material. The following data relates to the ingredients ofPVA Wood Glue:Vinyl Acetate MonomerTLV-TWA 10 ppm, 35 mg/m3TLV-STEL 20 ppm, 70 mg/m3

    [NOHSC:1003(1991)]

TWA is the time weighted average concentration ofthe work atmosphere over a normal 8 hour work day

  • 3and a 40 hour work week. Nearly all workers mayrepeatedly be exposed to this level, day after daywithout adverse effect.

Engineering ControlsUse in well ventilated area. General factoryventilation is normally sufficient. In confined orpoorly ventilated areas the use of mechanicalventilation may be required.

Personal ProtectionAvoid repeated and prolonged skin contact. Alwayswash hands before smoking, eating drinking or usingthe toilet. Wash contaminated clothing and protectiveequipment before storing/re-using. The followingpersonal protective equipment is recommended:Safety Glasses, Goggles or face shield. Plastic orrubber gloves. Overalls or similar protective apparel

    FlammabilityNon flammable.

    EnvironmentAvoid contaminating waterways.

Other PrecautionsAlways observe adequate standards of industrialhygiene.

    Packing and LabelingNo special requirements

Spills and DisposalWear appropriate protective equipment. Containspillage using absorbent (soil or sand, sawdust, vermiculite, inert) material. Prevent anycontamination of drains or waterways. Scrape upand seal in properly labelled drums for disposal.Remove residue from contaminated areas withspecific clean-up solution or use water anddetergent. Observe local regulations whendisposing of waste material.

Fire/Explosion HazardNo unusual fire of explosion hazards. In case of firein the surroundings: all extinguishing agentsallowed. Fire fighters to wear self-containedbreathing apparatus if risk of exposure to vapour orproducts of combustion.Hazardous decomposition of products ofcombustion: Carbon Dioxide, Carbon MonoxideSoot and smoke, Oxidative products of polymeric
