No game is complete without photos and media. Nothing

creates greater audience interest than photos.

Photos can be circulated through a wide variety of social

net-working media which crates wider interest and

broader audience base.

Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest all circulate images across

international audiences, thereby creating greater interest in

Czech Hockey.

The photos should be captions and uploaded with

appropriate iptc data so that skaters, game and date are

immediately recognizable.

The most powerful tool in the social- networking media is

Pinterest. Twitter, Tumblr and FB are all tools of promoting

international awareness of Czech Hockey.

Pinterest

Pinterest

Pinterest is considered to be the biggest tool for social-

networking for photographers and circulating

photography or attracting new audiences and sand indirect

advertising.

Pinterest acts as a photo archive. The life cycle of a “pin”

on Pinterest is longer than any other social media..

The”pin” directs the viewer to the original posting and is

easily transferred across social media.

Pins have stronger capture rate when they have good

captions and descriptions which should include normal

game information. But “pins” can also carry historical

and biographical information.

Pinterest can be used to pin FB images or FanShop items .

When FanShop items are pinned, the image link in

Pinterest leads directly to that item in the FansShiop.

.Pinterest also allows cooperation between people so

communal boards may be established with multiple users

pinning work to the same boards.

Pinterest acts as a photo archive. The life cycle of a “pin”

Subject collections can be established by “boards” which

contain things related to a particular subject such as a team,

place, skater or concept. A team might have boards for

individual skaters, games or for the FanShop. However, it is

important to mix original images with 3d party. By pinning

images from other boards, news sites or social media such as

YouTube, it is possible to create a virtual environment that

gives a good public representation of the team.

Pins with little text information are far less likely to circulate,

so more information given in caption or notes, the greater

likelihood the image will circulate. No matter where that

image is pinned, the link directs the viewer back to the

original source.

Pinterest is searchable. Boards can be indexed for sports and

tagged for special interests.

Pinterest has good distribution through Twitter, FB and other

sites.

on Pinterest is longer than any other social media.

Boards can be made for specific subject interest and

collaborators invited to add “pins” to the board, so that

several people are able to contribute to the collection.

Photos can be used to give game information, skater

biographies, updates, club history, and give a broader

perspective of team life.

Pinterest is a savvy new media version of classical hockey

card swapping except it’s digital and you don’t have to

worry about your mom cleaning your room and throwing all

your cards into the garbage.

Media such as YouTube and Tumblr with video and gifs are

also possible to add to Pinterest, so game highlights and

interviews become socially mobile.

Team Page Team pages were designed to maximize social-networking

capacity and create interactive dialog between the users and

content contributors whether that be a team or a writer so

that content is continuously new and supplemented by

outside sources.

A website has the problem of passivity like a showcase

window. Czech sites are often more like brick walls than

windows for international audience who do not comprehend

Czech. Social media such as Facebook reaches to the fan

base, but the fans must first connect with the page. The reach

is limited by fans subscribing to the page.

Twitter tweets into the internet black hole. It can be sued as

game feed or updates, but difficult to establish as interactive.

Pinterest offers greater flexibility to outreach because it goes

beyond the pre-defined fan base and the images circulate

beyond the pre-defined audience.

Pages can incorporate different forms of media including

short video clips, interviews and link in external social

media such as YouTube.

Short visual clips make a site sticky and create interest

because of their dynamics.

.

Czech Hockey

Layout Layout was designed so that the pages are expansive and

adaptable for advertising.

Gold areas are the potential advertising spots for sponsored

advertising or insert advertising for hockey or sports related

content, goods or services.

Every page for writer, main article, back page, index page

and team page has formatted space for future advertisements

that could be used by team, game sponsors, sports

manufacturers or any interested sponsor of Czech Hockey.

A basic advertising layout design is available with pricing

structure according to placement and size.

SummaryThe site is designed with focus on flexibility and portability,

the site design is responsive and adapts nicely to mobile

devices with emphasis placed on greater audience through

social networking and new media.

The site is designed to act as an interface for Czech Hockey

to present reliable information and commentary regarding

Czech Hockey to the international world and to direct traffic

toward the Czech ExtraLiga, Czech National Team and

LevPraha in the KHL CHL Teams in addition have an

additional menu so that the games played between

international teams are separated from the normal season

schedule.

The site is designed with the game summary core so that it

can expand with other features in the future.

Major consideration is to provide editorial photography that

may be used under RM licensing with the permission of the

Czech ExtraLiga or proper authorities as it is possible to link

the site with a PhotoShelter account for editorial licensing.

The images presently uploaded on the site are 800 x 533

@72dpi from my personal work.

Czech Hockey

Czech Pride-Czech ExtraLiga In 1972, Czechoslovakia took the Gold.

From 1950-1971, the USSR dominated international hockey.

IIHF WC Hockey was played in round robin, therefore the

winner of the Gold Medal was dependent on points and not

decided by a play-off format known today or in the play-off

round robin format of the tennis world such as Wimbledon. This

meant that the Czechs beat the Soviets many times over, but were

denied the Gold Medal based on points and not prowess.

The world of hockey was greatly influenced by two major events

in 1972, the Summit Series between the Canadians and the

Soviets and the Gold medal taken by the Czech team. On their

way home, the Canadians stopped in Prague on September 30 for

an exhibition game which ended in a tie 3-3 with Jiri Holecek

defending the Czech goal and Ken Dryden at the opposite end.

In 1980’s Czech skaters migrated to North America. In 2004

about 68 Czech skaters were playing in the NHL. Today there are

approximately 33. When the Czechs return home, they leave their

fans behind and communication is lost.

Unfortunately there is a great misconception that Czech Hockey

is dead. It’s not true– It’s not over until its over. As Nedorost

remarked, “Tomorrow is a new game. “ So it was in 4x OT.
