Transcript of CYSS Compass Magazine - October 2013
From the Desk of Pam WilliamsFort Rucker Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS)Coordinator
Thank you for picking up a copy of our fourth edition of the Ft. Rucker CYSS Compass Magazine. Fall is finally here and the holidays are rapidly approaching. We hope that you will utilize the Compass as a resource to help navigate your way to our quality child care options for your children as well as daily activities and enrichment opportunities for your youth.
Our new 24/7 Mini Child Development Center, CDC, is complete and the grand opening is coming soon. The 24/7 Mini CDC will provide full time child care for shift workers such as Air Traffic Controllers, Flight Students, Military Police, Fire Fighters, contractors and others who have changing shifts, swing shifts or odd working hours that do not fit into the normal operating hours of our other CYSS facilities. The 24/7 Mini CDC has the capacity of 20 children, from ages 6 weeks to 12 years, at any one time. Fees will be the same as the main CDC. Hourly care will be available by reservation on a space available basis. This facility is designed to look and feel like a home away from home with features including sleeping rooms, an infant room with cribs, a living room, a den, an isolation room for children who become ill during their stay, and a fenced in playground. Please call me at (334) 255-2375 or our Parent Central Services office at (334) 255-9638 to request one of the full time spaces for your child care needs.
We are dedicated to our continuing commitment to provide the highest quality child care and youth programs for Soldiers and their Families, DoD APF/NAF Civilian personnel, reservists on active duty or during inactive duty personnel training, and DoD contractors employed at Fort Rucker. Annual CYSS registration is free and available in person at our Parent Central Services office located in the Soldier Service Center, Building 5700, Rm 193 or via WEBTRAC on the MWR website, www.ftruckermwr.com. The CYSS Compass will lead you to a wealth of services and activities designed with you and your Family in mind. Have a safe and enjoyable fall and holiday season!
Respectfully,Pam WilliamsCoordinator, CYSS Division

There are several certified Family Child Care homes on post offering an alternative to center-based care. These homes offer child care services to children whose parents have irregular duty hours, children who need a small group setting, and those preferring care in a home setting. FCC providers follow CYS Services fees for the childcare services they render. Provid-ers and parents sign a contract agreeing on fees, hours of care to be provided and terms of payment. Parents considering this option should contact the FCC office for an orien-tation prior to signing the legally binding contract with an individual FCC provider.
