The Cypress Design centre based in Cork is its Centre of Excellence for touchscreen controllers. These controllers are used in devices ranging from high-end smartphones/tablets to small screen applications such as digital still cameras. The 3rd

generation of these controllers generated $300 million dollars in chip sales.

Job Description

An internship at Cypress in Cork offers a student the chance to work with a leading edge design team using the latest design and verification techniques.

Cypress has internships in the areas of analog, digital and system design.

Interns are fully integrated into the design teams and contribute directly to chip design. This allows interns the chance to get relevant industry experience which will greatly benefit him/her in the early stages of their careers after completing their degree. The small team size in Cork means that interns will get direct experience of the latest design tools and techniques.

Interns will get to see how design teams are run and organised on multi-site projects.

Interns will experience how projects are managed including attending meeting, presenting data and working with other designers across the world (USA, India, Ukraine).

All scheduled internal/external training courses that are relevant are also offered to interns.

There is a fully equipped gym and an external trainer offers lunch time training twice weekly. In addition, interns are invited to all social outings.

Recent co-op projects have been:

Automated robot testing of Touchscreen devices.

Java generated Graphical User Interface for use in Touchscreen controller system modelling

Software programming for automated webpage generation and database processing

LCD noise analysis of Touchscreen devices

Verilog coding for digital circuits in advanced Touchscreen devices

The quality of the internship at Cypress has been recognized in the past: Won best summer internship in the UCC EE Department.

Past Cypress interns have been hired upon completion of their BE.
