Within Quality Policy different aspects like Quality Planning (QP), Quality Control
(QC), Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) are considered
Application of these aspects depends on the problem and question regarded
Each quality tool has its own measures and approaches
They are applied parallel with different emphasis in the Quality Policy of
companies

Besides these Quality Policies related activities, there are many further
aspects which are of importance for the management of a company, e.g.:
Organisation structure
Allocation of responsibilities
Cost structure
Next to the named aspects there are many interactions in practice which
need to be considered, when implementing quality policy in an existing
management system of a company.

Description of work (2/4)- Step 1 -
Step 1: Companies management related aspects
IE, TUHH and TI are responsible for the analysis and investigations on
aspects related to companies management as e.g.:
Organization structure
Cost structure
Possible interfaces in management for implementing quality related activities
Expected results:
Responsibilities and representatives of existing QM-system
Indicators for an efficient QM Existing/expected cost factors for implementation of a QM-system
Interactions with the existing company management when implementing a QM-
system for solid biofuels

Description of work (3/4)- Step 2 -
Step 2: Assessment of information and data
The results of Step 1 now serve as a basis for the assessment of
information gathered in terms of:
Contrariness/compatibility of the information and data,
Overlapping/amendments and interfaces
Applicability of the activities practice (required by the different quality tools)
IE will prepare a template for data collection for all involved partners. With it the
data gathering and evaluation should be more effectively.
Expected results:
Development of a matrix which provides information about measures of the
quality tools and their effects.
The overlaps and contrariness of the effects will be investigated in particular.

Description of work (4/4)- Step 3 -
Step 3: Development of a procedure for companies
All the information gathered in Step 1 and 2 shall be connected to create a
management tool for companies dealing with solid biofuels.
Expected results:
The tool (like a technical report) shall be developed by IE in close co-
operation with TUHH and TI.
It will give companies guidance when considering and integrating the different
aspects in an existing management system most efficiently
The guideline could be used in a similar way like CEN/TR 15569 Solid biofuels
guide for a quality assurance system, e.g. as annex to the CEN/TS 15234
Solid biofuels Fuel quality assurance
