Darius' warcaster talent was discovered early anaimmediately brought him to the attention of the Cygnammilitary. He had been recognized for his intellectual gif~in early childhood and was a young man possessed 0
instant and intuitive insight into engineering. He neededno instruction to grasp the most complex clements o!warjack construction and just as quickly apprehendecthe inner secrets of cortexes. He completed his trainingas a warcaster in record time, mentoring under sucnnotables as Commander Adept Sebastian Nemo. Sinilthen Captain Darius has become a lynchpin in Cygnar'\wartime industries.

Able to apply his arcane power to improve the strikingpower and fuel efficiency of his 'jacks, Darius and hisbattlegroup can respond to any threat with an alacritythat surprises his enemies. More than one Khadorankommander has ordered an attack based on intelligence thatsuggested Cygnar's warjacks were too far from the front torespond, only to have these plans shattered by the rapidarrival of Darius and his pack of devastating machines.Recent fighting has also given him experience battling bothagainst Menite forces and Cryx. Captain Dominic Dariusshirks from no challenge, standing resolute and seeminglyinvincible alongside his men and warjacks even whenseriously outnumbered.

Surrounded~. his 'jacks, the warcaster can charge into the midst oftheenemy to tear out the heart of their attack while theCygnarantroops advance behind him.
Dariusoccasionally loses sight of the fact that even with his~or, he is not quite as resilient as a warjack. Pausing to~ke repairs in battle has resulted in some close calls for therznds-onmechanik. It was in precisely this kind of situation-mathealmost lost his life after exiting his armor during theghtagainst Cryx at the Temple of Garrodh. During a brutal clash against Feora, the Protector of theFlame, Stryker's enemy ignited the tl'mple where theyfought in a desperate gamble to save her own life. Strykerhad to choose between pursuit of his enemy and saving theinnocent Menites around him. This was a choice that offeredthe last chance of redemption for his soul. After he ensuredthe safety of the J\.1enites, the burning building collapsed onhim and nearly ended his life.
Given carte blanche to wage war against the enemies of thecrown as he saw fit, Lord Stryker assembled a force handpickedfrom the best of the Cygnaran Army to create his "StormDi\'ision" to replace the 6th Division of the Second Anny.Hethen ordered the ~rrest of every Mcnite man, woman, and childin eastern Cygnar. If King Leto has ever placed his faith in one man, it wouldbe Coleman Stryker. Few others have been as tested in battleand character as Stryker has. The toughest soldiers of the Cygnaran Army have alwaysbeen those who serve in the Trenchers. But even amongthese hard-as-nails grunts there exists an elite few. Honedby years of warfare in some of the most brutal fighting inall of the Iron Kingdoms, these "best of the best" <Ire singledout for intense special training in a varit.'ty of advancedskills, including infiltration, covert [lelion, <lnd knifefighting. Those who pass this grueling course earnthe right to become commandos, highlyspecialized trenchers who arc thefirst of Cygn,H's spl'l'i,11 forcessent into h.nm's \yay.

Bourne. He joined the Trenchers as soon as he was ableanquickly demonstrated the staminil ilnd strength for whiehe would become famous. Private Finn was a natural soldiewho chewed through every challenge his instructors threwhis way and continually rose from the mud to ask formore,
There WilS never any doubt Finn \vould be a lifer, andheearned the rank of sergeant in record time. He was a manwho could leild others in battle and sec them throughtosafety. As a sergeant he was assigned to Northguard andattached to the prestigious 95th Trencher Company knownas the "Northguard Gravediggers," where he served fornearly a decade and rose to the rank of master sergeant. He further distinguished himself fighting with the 95thinkey engagements after Khador's invasion of L1ael.,Maxwellremembers each friend lost in those conflicts and is abletorecount battle stories about everyone of them.
One particularly notable incident occurred during thewithdrawal from L1aeI, when several young soldiers go!separilted from the main column after a miscommunication.Master Sergeant Finn personally went to find themand found the squad taking sniper fire from a pair ofWidowmakers. \'\Tithhalf the unit shot down and the othersunder cover, Finn took matters into his own hands. l\'otwanting to reveal his position with gunfire, he detached histrencher knife from his rifle and stalked the Widowmakcrsone after the other. He took a bullet in his shoulder beforebringing down the second sniper, and then he led thesurvivors the five miles back to their column. He bled theentire \vay, but he would not allow his wounds to be treateduntil his men were safe. This event sealed the larger-than.life status of Maxwell Finn ilnd is often described to youngtrenchers in training.
The fighting at Northguard further ccmented Finn'sreputation among the Trenchers as "thc toughest bastardalive." Most of his men were killed in the battle, and he \..•.a5knocked unconscious and listed among the missing. Whenhe regained consciousness and reillizcd that the front hadmoved south, putting him behind enemy lines, he wastedno time in finding the other survivors. The story of how heand that ragged group of Trenchers rejoined the CygnilranArmy at Point Bourne quickly became the stuff of legend.
The brashness and cocksure attitude of his youth never leftCaptain Finn as he fought on the front lines against Khildor. In one battle Finn tore loose an old fixed-cmplacement mini-slugger-a precursor of the chain gun too cumbersome to bewielded by most-and chargcd forward, spraying the enemywith bullets. 5trangewayes can ignore many ordinary dangers ofcombatbecauseof the safety afforded him by his massive customized,steam-powered armor. \Vhile not as elaborate as the fullrigpreferred by Captain Dominic Darius, 5trangcwayes' armorgrants considerable protection and allows him to shrugoffexplosions or blows that would easily fell an unprotectedman. He has become quite comfortable in his armor despitethe hassles of keeping it refueled and maintained-fromtime to time he forgets he is even wearing it. He also relieson its enhanced strength to manipulate oversized warjackparts during field repairs. Adding to the armor's utility,5trangewayes adapted Cygnaran voltaic technology tocreate an electromechanikal gauntlet that can send forthapowerful electrical surge capable of frying both men andmachines.
5trangewayes is a paragon of expertise among the fieldmechaniks serving the Cygnaran Army, and most o( its bestmechaniks heed his advice. Those who spend time underhis tutelage find him a grueling taskmaster unforgiving ofmistakes and prone to demonstrating design or repair flawsin the most painful fashion possible.
