Theme 1: Career Insights
Rationale
▪ After being hit by the pandemic and economic turmoil caused by it,
Malaysia faced the lowest economic growth in 2020 ever since the
Asian Financial Crisis (Asian Development Bank) that saw thousands of
job losses. However, due to increasing global stability, Malaysia is
predicted to rebound to 6% in 2021 and stabilise the figure in 2022
which will be followed by the development of new and old industries
that may increase the job opportunities for our future graduates.
▪ Due to this volatility and uncertainty, we believe that it is important for
our graduates and students to understand the situation in various
industries in Malaysia and the opportunities that are and will be
available for them when they step into the employment market.
▪ As digital transformation and the role of technology is drastically
increasing in all industries now, we are looking to bring different
industries to share their journey experiencing them and how they are
creating new jobs for graduates with this transformation happening
and what graduates can do to be adaptable for those roles.Source: Photo by Joshua Rawson-Harris on Unsplash
Day 1 (16th August): Career Insights
Time Session Focus / Content
10.15 am –
11.15 am How to be “In Demand”? Insights You Should Know
● A session where the current market trend will be discussed and
informed to our participants.
● It is aimed to figure out the industries and particular firms that are
hiring graduates, especially during these trying times.
● Roles that are generally in demand and the skills that are being
looked for by firms will also be focused on.
02.00 pm –
03.30 pm Riding the Next Digital Wave
● Focused on discussing the significance of digitalisation and
technology in the industry and how it is affecting the jobs available
for graduates.
● What are the industries or firms doing to accommodate these
changes and create jobs for graduates?
Rationale
▪ During these trying times, being a graduate with just a bachelor's degree
may not be the most marketable trait in a very competitive employment
market. Students and graduates must equip themselves with adequate
experience and skills to be outstanding compared to the others, Therefore, it
is important for them to be aware of and know how to master them.
▪ Internships and micro-credentials are two important elements to gain
enough experience and learn as much as new on-demand skills like
programming, Microsoft Excel, digital marketing etc. Though a lot of people
know of these, the details are about them are hard to know about and these
are what we are trying to bring to our students and graduates.
▪ On the other hand, as how prepared graduates could be for a particular
job/career, there are so many possibilities that could happen that might
force or willingly cause the graduates to change their career path. Although
this circumstance occurs, it is important that graduates understand that it
might not be the end of their options and they can still thrive in other fields
and career path. The last session will be focused on this to highlight that they
can still be opportunities for graduates in other fields.

Day 3 (18th August) : Emotional Health & Well-being
Rationale
▪ Health and well-being is not limited to oneself but also include others.
In this segment of SBP, we aim to conduct a session on personal
well-being and another on others’ well-being.
▪ With the deepening health and economic crises as well as uncertainties
caused by the pandemic, students and young professionals’ well-being
are highly affected, teetering on the edge of burnout. A session on
overcoming burnout is of relevance to help them regulate their stress
levels, stay engaged and keep the momentum going.
▪ Since youths are the future global driver, there is a need to prep and
advocate youth for social innovation, addressing the current social
issues and provide innovative solutions such as movements to bring
about meaningful change, especially during the pandemic. This is in line
with the ongoing nation-building efforts, creating a holistic and
empowered youth.
▪ Booths of participating NGOs will be set up on Gather Town platform
for them to showcase and promote their organisation, with a main
room conducting a mini session on the introduction to social
innovation.

Day 3 (18th August): Emotional Health & Well-being

11.00 am

● Tips to stay engage, keep the momentum going and doing what you need to
do but in a positive and healthy manner.
● Insights on striking work-life or study-life balance and regaining control to
things only which is within our control.

Power to the Youth: Creating an
Impact with Social Movements
● Insights on the relevance of social innovation and its importance during the
pandemic.
● Showcasing available platforms for youths to participate in social innovation.
● Empowering youths to be a part of the nation-building quest, impacting
society for better changes
What is Gather Town?
▪ Gather Town is an online platform that allows customisable spaces for
online gatherings that makes virtual interaction more human. Users will
be able to create their own avatar and move around different rooms in
the platform in which they can interact and do activities (e.g
discussions, games and movies) with other users close enough to their
surrounding or in the same room as them.
▪ For Session 7 that focuses on social innovations, each NGO that are
invited will be given each room in Gather Town where participants can
enter and interact with them for networking and QnA purposes. This
will be a good opportunity for students and graduates to understand
movements around them that help to make the society a better place
and be inspired to participate in the ones that they are interested in.
▪ Prior to this Gather Town session, a webinar will be held to allow the
representatives from NGOs to introduce their movement and what they
work for to give an overall understanding about social movement to our
participants.
▪ Hopefully, this new initiative of bridging the gap between social
movements and students will help to inspire our participants to be an
active member of the society by contributing their efforts for it.

Day 4 (19th August) : Build your Career
Rationale
▪ Stepping out of education and into the professional world is exciting
yet stressful. Young professionals may feel overwhelmed by the new
environment and might still be on the transition phase of students to
professionals. For this reason, the workshop aims to acts as a career
starter pack for them.
▪ As SBP Cycle 2 theme is “Call-to-Action”, this workshop will be held
on the last day of SBP, responding to the themes on the day before.
It is limited to 50 participants and will be done via Zoom platform
with the collaboration from Seeds Job Fair. The workshop will cover
resume building, mock interviews and negotiations skills.
▪ In the age of the pandemic where webinars are of an abundance,
this workshop is to give students an opportunity to receive an
e-certificate from TalentCorp if they have completed all 3
workshops.
▪ This workshop will be in collaboration with Seeds Job Fair who will
be running the workshop portion of SBP Cycle 2/2021.
