On the 22nd and 23rd day of March 2018 the recently opened Cyber Crime Unit within the Nauru Police Force (NPF) delivered its Cyber Safety Awareness to eight Recruits that were assigned to the Investigations Unit

for on the job work experience.

The focus of the delivery is promoting awareness on the advantages and disadvantages of technology and how to stay safe online. It also explored issues which may affect individuals and the community; issues which may cause problems on a national scale; through to international arena where all sorts of issues may arise as we steadily leave our footprints in the

world of technology.

After the session, the participants were subdued and thoughtful where one worried about posting photos of himself after completing some weight sessions but a reminder of the CSP slogan “Be smart, Be safe and Have fun online” perked things up and they are all for promoting aware-

ness into the schools and community.

The Sergeant is pleased with the outcome and is looking forward to taking these officers out into the community to promote the CSP Pro-

gram.

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 I

Updates from Vanuatu On 19 January the Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) Commissioner hosted an unveiling ceremony which the Vanuatu Police Minister and the Australian High Commissioner also attended. The Australian High Commissioner Jenny Da Rin noted "I want to congratulate the initiative of the police to both put up this banner and to strongly support this awareness work in this country. It is a fundamental

area of growth for policing and it’s good to see that the police here are so proactive about that".

This project commenced when Vanuatu Police CSP Trainer Jeff Natapei submitted an application for assistance in the procurement of a billboard to be displayed in Vanuatu’s capital, Port Villa, during the Pacific Mini Games in December 2017. Noting the hard work Jeff and the rest of the VPF Community Safety and Crime Prevention team do across the vast archipelago that is Vanuatu , this applica-

tion was approved and the Billboard was created.

The billboard is proudly displayed outside the police Station in Port Villa. The billboard has images of Vanuatu athletes who compet-

ed in the Pacific Mini-Games games and VPF Officers and says “UNITY and STRENGTH, we can build a great Vanuatu”.
