MARKET LEADER NOTE

WINNING TOGETHER

This is the time of year when we assess where we are professionally and personally. We reflect on all that we are thankful for and on what we’ve accomplished in the past year. We start to set goals and plans for the new year.

Everyone gave so much in terms of energy and effort to enhance our brand, strengthen our platform, and make this Region’s culture the reason we win every day. Our success as a Region is also based in teamwork. We are succeeding in large part because of hard work, strategic thinking, and collaboration. Everyone on this powerful team makes us better.

I hope you all relaxed and unplugged during the holidays and are geared up for a busy and successful 2015! — Brian Dawson

PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

SCOTT RUSSI: 2014 MS ACHIEVER OF THE YEAR

CONGRATULATIONS

SHERRY CUSHMAN: MARCH OF DIMES’ REAL ESTATE HEROINE OF WASHINGTON

Scott Russi served as Co-Chair of the 2014 MS Achiever of the Year with Ryan Kerrigan of the Washington Redskins and Brooks Laich of the Washington Capitals.

The National MS Society, National Capital Chapter hosts this fundraising competition with a celebratory gala. Fundraisers vie for the title of “MS Achiever of the Year” with all proceeds going towards research for a cure for multiple sclerosis as well as programs held in the DC Metro area, including direct financial assistance, scholarships for kids, respite funding for caregivers, and transportation for medical appointments.

The March of Dimes funds research and programs which aim to end premature death, birth defects, and infant mortality. The award and program honored and acknowledged the significant contributions of women in the Washington, D.C. area who exemplify leadership in volunteer community service. Sherry has made a commitment and focus to the younger generation through mentoring, charitable endeavors and raising funds for children’s initiatives. Read more about Sherry’s contributions in this CONNECT story.

CELEBRATING TOGETHER

SUMMER SOIREE

STAR SPANGLED SPECTACULAR

The D.C. Region came together in August to Seas the Day with a Summer Soiree on Washington’s Southwest waterfront. Employees jumped ship for the afternoon and went to Cantina Marina, a dockside restaurant with open patio overlooking the Washington Channel. Around 100 of our colleagues celebrated the end of summer with an afternoon of food, drinks, swag and fun. Everyone enjoyed the Slabs and Crabs feast with accompanying cocktails to celebrate the remaining days of summer!

One East Pratt Street, a C&W-managed building in downtown Baltimore, participated in the Star Spangled Spectacular, which celebrated Baltimore’s role in the war of 1812 and the writing of our national anthem. This multi-day event concluded with an impressive fireworks display that utilized the roof of our building to launch some of the supplemental displays.

CLAY SHOOT AT THE SHORE

DEB SANTANO FAREWELL

Michael Elardo, Jared Ross and Michael Kimmel of C&W Baltimore hosted Clay Shoot at The Shore, a client appreciation event on the Eastern Shore in Maryland. Industrial clients from the region gathered for an afternoon of sporting clays followed by drinks and dinner on the Kent Narrows at sunset. Camouflage print hats and other hunting “gag gifts” were awarded to the best and worst shooters. Clay Shoot at The Shore was such a success that the team has plans to make it an annual event!

We said goodbye to Debbie Santano in early December, with a farewell party on the 10th at Ballston Station’s conference room. While at C&W, Debbie oversaw more than 8 million square feet as a Director with our Property Management group.

Debbie’s colleagues describe her as dedicated, hardworking, fun, well-dressed, and a consummate professional, and we are proud to have had her as a part of C&W – best wishes on her next chapter!

OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CHILDREN’S INN

The D.C. Region is making a big difference at the Childen’s Inn at NIH and also showing the rest of C&W who is on top in terms of giving back. The funds raised this year went directly to the Inn to assist the kids and their families.

The D.C. CWFL Chapter won the National CWFL T-Shirt Booster Contest with $2,537 raised and 97 t-shirts sold. We also supported the Inn through hosting family dinners, decorating for the holidays, serving hot chocolate, creating Thoughtful Treasures gift boxes, and attending Inn events in the community.

Thank you all for embracing The Inn this year!

On Friday, December 12, many C&W families came into our Tysons office for an afternoon of holiday fun. Children sat and talked with Santa and his terrific Elf gave them a wrapped gift with their name on it! Everyone ate lots of cookies and candies and we are thankful to Ryan Lopez who played Santa, and John Daniels who helped as Head Elf. With more than 25 parents and children attending, the Kids’ Santa Party was a resounding success!
