The Central Valley Herpetological Society
is an educational organization made up of
individuals dedicated to learning about and
teaching our surrounding communities about
the fascinating world of reptiles and
amphibians. Members gather for meetings and
activities in the counties of San Joaquin,
Stanislaus, Alameda, Merced, Sacramento, and
surrounding areas of California's Central Valley.
CVHS exists to provide conservation efforts
through public education programs, while
nurturing the efforts of both professional and
amateur herpetologists for the purpose of
advancing knowledge in herpetology and
captive husbandry.
The club provides educational live animal
displays for fairs, festivals, and other
community events, as part of our
conservation outreach programs.
CVHS welcomes individuals throughout Northern California with an interest in the preservation of the planet’s reptiles & amphibians. Our members are made up of herpetologists, field herpers,
hobbyists, professional herpetoculturists and other admirers who have a passion for the conservation of the world’s herpetofauna.

CVHS holds several public education events throughout the year, appearing at festivals, businesses, and special events throughout the Northern Central Valley.
Displays include live native and exotic reptiles & amphibians and information on different species, conservation efforts, and suitability as pets.
The displays are run entirely by members volunteering their time for these efforts for these public outreach events.

Through the CVHS Adoptions program, we work to rescue, rehabilitate, and locate caring knowledgeable homes for reptiles & amphibians in need. Through a network of foster homes, made up of CVHS members, the club can take in and care for surrendered animals until they can be placed with new keepers.
For more information on our Adoptions program, please visit the adoptions section on the CVHS Online Forums.
