October 2016 – December 2016 CalAid; Regional Volunteer Co-ordinator & Project ManagerDuring my time working in Greece, I was responsible for day-to-day organisation of the NGO which involved liaising with relevant actors - such as the UNHCR, MSF, Oxfam, and the Greek Government - and managing in field finances. I also ran an optics project that aims to provide all child refugees in North-western Greece with a free eye test and glasses if necessary. During my time with CalAid, I helped to transform the organisation into the largest NFI provider in the region and negotiated a £60,000 contract with Oxfam.

Skills Developed: Organisational management, working in a political environment, professional communication, working independently, stakeholder management, negotiation, project management, and administration.

June 2016 – August 2016 University of Bristol; Postgraduate Tele-Campaign Advisor My primary responsibility was to advise prospective postgraduate students on all matters relating to their chosen degree programme and on life in Bristol. I advised both domestic and international students, but was specifically responsible for speaking to applicants from Japan and South Korea.

2014 – 2015 Longsands Academy; Laboratory Technician The role required me to tend to the science department’s administrative tasks, and to plan and facilitate the use of scientific equipment within lessons within a small team. I often had to handle multiple tasks and manage a variety of interests and expectations simultaneously within a very rigid timetable. I digitised the bulk of the department’s paperwork and created an effective online chemical database to improve our departmental organisation.

Skills Developed: Organisation, prioritisation, planning, administration, effective communication within a small team, problem solving, and the ability to handle pressure from deadlines and a high workload.

2011 – 2012 British Army; Officer Cadet, Birmingham University Officer Training Corps I undertook officer training and passed the first module towards a commission in the British Army. I regularly commanded up to 30 soldiers and planned operations in Germany involving up to 100 troops in challenging and highly pressurised environments.

Skills Developed: Leadership, teamwork, quick decision making, planning, organisation, management ability, time management, punctuality, self-discipline, and the ability to confidently handle a very large workload in highly stressful situations.

2010 – 2016 One Leisure; Centre Assistant As a centre assistant I performed a variety of roles; predominantly as a lifeguard, an assistant swim teacher and supervisor in the gym and leisure centre. I was also responsible for training new staff.

Skills Developed: Teamwork, communication, time management, attention to detail, ability to remain focused, and customer service skills.

University of Bristol Debating Union (2015 – 2016): - I enjoyed debating motions on a wide

range of topical issues. My knowledge of current affairs and politics proved to be useful, together with my ability to formulate clear and creative arguments in a limited time frame and then present them in a compelling manner.

Bristol University Politics Society (2015 – 2016): - I have a passion for politics, and enjoyed debating policy and political ideas with members from across the political spectrum. I have attended talks from politicians such as John Bercow, and events including Question Time and Any Questions.

Bristol International Affairs Society (2015 – 2016): - As a member of the International Affairs society, I learnt from a variety of guest speaker events at the university, discussing topics ranging from the Israeli-Palestine conflict, to the Syrian refugee crisis from notable experts such as the former UK ambassador to the United Nations, Sir Jeremy Greenstock.

Labour Party (2015 – Current): - As a member of the Labour Party and the Bristol Labour Students society I engaged in political discussions and socialised with like-minded members. I have met a number of local and national politicians including Marvin Rees, Chuka Umunna, and Tristram Hunt. I also stood to become the Vice-President of my local Party.

Duke of Edinburgh: - I earned my Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards at school which developed my organisation, motivation, team work and socialising skills as well as allowing me to participate in new and varied activities. Whilst working at Longsands Academy I assisted, as a volunteer, to help run the Bronze Award. This involved leading a group during expeditions, utilising my planning, motivation and leadership skills.

Travel: - Travelling is a passion of mine and I have travelled to countries ranging from Russia, to China, Australia, Finland, and the United States. Through travel I have gained a greater appreciation for other cultures and ways of life.
