Summary
Andreia Bruno is a Project Manager & Lecturer in the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety (CMUS), at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University, since February 2017. Previously, Dr Bruno was the Project Coordinator and Researcher in the International Pharmaceutical Federation Education (FIPEd) a post she held from January 2011 to January 2017. Her areas of responsibility in FIPEd encompassed all issues relevant to communication, coordination and management plans for projects within the domain areas of the Education Development Team [Domains: Competency development (Foundation and Advanced practice), Global workforce, Interprofessional Education, among others] and the Academic Institution Membership. Dr Bruno was the Technical Lead for Professional Development in Ordem dos Farmacêuticos (Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society | OF), from June 2014 to January 2017, her areas of responsibility encompassed the development of competency-based frameworks for the available specializations and the accreditation activities and processes for the continuous education of the Portuguese pharmacists. Currently, she provides editorial support to the Pharmacy Education Research Journal, as an Associate Editor, an online platform for publishing peer-review articles ¾ http://pharmacyeducation.fip.org/. Dr Bruno is also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of London, School of Pharmacy, where she coordinated and oversaw 3 PhD candidates, working on FIPEd projects, supporting the development of research methodologies. Her teaching is related to research methodologies on the MSc in Pharmacy Practice APP Fast-Track Programme learning sets, and provides constructive feedback to initial project presentations. Other areas encompass conducting workshops and consensus groups with students; assessing OSCEs for undergraduates and Joint Board Programme post-graduate students. From 2013 to 2016, supervised rotation students from St Louis College of Pharmacy, USA, as a Clinical Preceptor for advance pharmacy practice. Responsibilities include tutoring, structuring, planning, marking and assessing the projects and the students. The doctoral thesis is entitled ‘The Feasibility, Development and Validation of a Global Competency Framework (GbCF) for Pharmacy Education’, where the focus were competency based approaches towards professional development and pharmaceutical services. Themes such as, continuing professional development, continuing education, education and training, professional recognition and credentialing processes were also addressed.
