I am a hardworking and driven individual, which comes across in my teaching style as I aim to get the best possible results for every one of my students in a friendly and enjoyable teaching situation.

I am passionate about dance in all of its forms, but I specialise in Urban. I am always working to improve my own dance abilities by attending dance classes and workshops. This keeps me up to speed with the latest trends and also gives me the opportunity to pass on a wider knowledge of dance to my students.

I graduated from De Montfort University gaining a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, having had the experience to develop my skills in acting, dance, devising and theoretical understanding of the field. I had the experience of working with Motionhouse Dance Company on our final year Company Performance Project. Since then, my passion and enthusiasm for dance has continued to grow. I have worked with Nu-Flow Dance Company on professional Hip Hop projects, performing at various prestigious venues and events. I have also taught at pineapple dance studios filling in for Winston jean Charles, I have also set up my own dance company, PandaFunk, which continues to make new and innovative work and teach workshops to various ages and ability groups.

I have much teaching experience both within educational and community settings. Most recently I have been working at Brooksby Melton College teaching BTEC Level 3 and HND learners’ Urban, Commercial, Contemporary and Jazz dance. I have taught technique within these styles and have prepared learners for showcases. I have provided constructive and positive feedback for learners verbally and written on electronic Personal Learning Plans throughout the units and have assessed final performances and graded work. I have worked with learners throughout their courses; from career guidance, interviews/auditions, Initial Assessments and Induction, ensuring that learners are on the correct course and are going to achieve well, through to their training, theatre performances and final assessments. I enjoy working as part of a team and I like collaborative teaching. I have been enthusiastic about extra-curricular activities and on-going student development. I have attended staff development and most recently relished the opportunity to develop my knowledge of teaching and learning theory through completing the PGDE Teaching qualification, which has helped me to further consider how to engage a diverse range of learners. Taking this qualification has opened my eyes to the responsibilities of a teacher/lecturer and I would like to develop my teaching practice by continuing with these qualifications.

Due to my passion for dance and hip hop specifically, I like to go to the theatre and enjoy a variety of performances. Also, I have worked with a range of established professionals such as Charlie Bruce (from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’) and JonJo Inkpen and I like to attend workshops and classes at Pineapple Dance Studios and other established venues to help develop my practice and keep up to date with innovations within the dance world.
