38th G8 summit

The 38th G8 summit was held in Camp David, Maryland, United States, on 1819 May 2012. It isthe annual meeting of the G8. The event occurred just before the year's NATO summit. The G8summit was moved from Chicago, where it was going to be held back-to-back with the NATOsummit, possibly due to fears of a large convergence of protestors. This is the first G8 summitwhich the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin did not attend. Dmitry Medvedev, the PrimeMinister of Russia attended instead.2012 Chicago Summit

The 2012 Chicago Summit is a meeting of the heads of state and heads of government of the

North Atlantic Treaty Organization, held in Chicago, Illinois, on 20 and 21 May 2012. This is the

first time ever that a NATO summit has been held in the United States outside of the nation'scapital, Washington, D.C.[1] The event was originally scheduled to coincide and be held after the

2012 G8 summit in Chicago as well, but the G8 summit was later rescheduled to be held at Camp

David.

Secretary General of NATO

The Secretary General of NATO is an international diplomat who serves as the chief official of

theNorth Atlantic Treaty Organization. The Secretary General is responsible for coordinating the

workings of the alliance, serves as the head of the North Atlantic Council, is the primary

spokesperson of the alliance, and leads NATO's staff. The current Secretary General is Anders

Fogh Rasmussen, formerPrime minister of Denmark.

Secretary-General of the United Nations

The Secretary-General of the United Nations is the head of the Secretariat of the United Nations,one of the principal organs of the United Nations. The Secretary-General also acts as the de factospokesperson and leader of the United Nations. The current Secretary-General is Ban Ki-moon ofSouth Korea, who took office on 1 January 2007. His first term expired on 31 December 2011. Hewas re-elected, unopposed, to a second term on 21 June 2011.

TAPI gas pipeline

May 25, 2012On Wednesday, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, a project worth

$ 7.6 billion inched closer to its beginning when the four countries signed an agreement concerning

the price of gas. Turkmenistan will sell its gas to these countries reportedly for a period of 30

years. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Reserves, Pakistan will receive 1.34

billion cubic feet of gas per day as part of the deal. Turkmenistans energy reserves are not in

doubt, nor should one censure it for trying to make good use of them. The ventures drawback,

however, is the Afghan territory it would have to cross in order to reach Pakistan and India, where

the possibility of sabotage can hardly be ruled out.
