Litecut Keyway Push Broaches

Manufactured to BS 4235 : Part 1 : 1972 (normal fit Js9) and DIN 6885 for metric sizes, and BS 46 : Part 1 : 1958 (1985) for inchsizes. Precision made from high speed steel and simple to use withminimal set-up. The cutting geometry will suit most materials. Pushbroaches are designed for use in hand-operated or hydraulic mandrelpresses, depending on load. Load per tooth, given in the tables, isbased on a UTS of 400N/mm2 (approx. 25 tons/sq in). For othermaterials, adjust accordingly. It is important that broaches are regroundwhen blunt and before damage occurs to the teeth. The use of cuttingfluid is essential, and for steel, an oil with high pressure additives isrecommended. Keyways from 2mm to 25mm width and bore diametersof 6mm to 95mm are possible. Both parallel and taper keyways can becut by using the appropriate guide. Broach style L2 and L2M require theuse of an extension shank which should be ordered separately. The shims specified for standard depth keyways can be adjusted to suitparticular applications. Parallel broaches are listed and supplied asstandard. Broaches for taper keyways are available to order.

HSS Coventry Type Chaser DiesCutting takes place only on the throat and the first full tooth; the remaining threads are above centre height and act as a nut, ensuring accurate pitch. Ideal for batch work or continuous production of threaded steel bar. Coventry dies arenot interchangeable. An original set of new dies must always be used together. When taken from thediehead the set of dies should be retained in its box until required again.

Throat Angles20 for general work and soft steels - supplied as standard.

Grinding DiesOnly two angles are ground on Coventry dies, the throat angle and the rakeangle and in the particular case of Holozone dies only the throat angle isground. All dies in a set must be ground on the throat at the same timeand since they cannot be accurately ground by hand, a die grindingfixture must be used.

Marking & MaterialsEach die is marked with: diameter, pitch, type of die and gaugenumber. Non-standard or special dies are marked with an SD number which should be quoted when re-ordering.When a set of dies has been re-ground several times by grindingthe throat angle, the height of the cutting edge rises above centre.This condition must be rectified by grinding the rake angle until thedie height is correct according to the number shown on the die.
