Transcript of Cutler and Gross Brand Book

  • THE BRANDCutler and Gross was founded by Graham Cutler and Tony Gross in 1969. The first flagship store opened at 16 Knightsbridge Green in London where they handmade bespoke frames above the shop. The brand has never been trend-driven, taking pride in functional, hardworking and timeless frames. Each frame is handcrafted in the brands own family-run factory in the Cadore region of Northern Italy. The Cutler and Gross customer has always been an individual, craving the feel of a bespoke pair of glasses, the tiny inaccuracies that give them character and make them unique to the wearer.

  • WE PRIDE OURSELVES INITALIAN HANDMADE PRODUCTION

All Cutler and Gross frames are handcrafted in their own factory, which opened 20 years ago in the Cadore region of Northern Italy.

Each individual frame takes four weeks to handcraft and includes 37 rigorous processes, manufactured by the finest craftsmen who combine traditional production techniques and beautiful material.

  • HOW EACH FRAME IS HANDCRAFTED1. Pins: The pin secures the riveted hinge to the arm

    2. Core: This is a metal spine that gives stability to the arm

    3.

    4. Hinge: For each hinge, four holes are hand-drilled into the frame

    5. Arm: Once the core is shot into the arm with the fronts, the rough cut-out shapes are tumbled in wooden barrels for five days

    6. Front: Once designs are decided, shapes for the front are sketched, converted to computer drawings and cut into frame fronts and temples with a CNC machine

    7. Pins: The hinges are secured to the frame with exposed pins, the only decoration we will allow

    8. Logo: Our gold foil logo is placed on the inside of the right-hand temple. The logo is permanently capsuled and gives the wearer the security of knowing that the glasses are genuine Cutler and Gross.
