BBJ Component Exchange & Spares Program Information

Boeing has created two programs for our BBJ community to receive spare parts. One is through our Component Services Program (CSP), which will provide used rotable parts in exchange unserviceable rotable parts. The other is through our Spares program that will provide new parts at a market-competitive price.

General Guidelines/ Customer Responsibility

Place written requests or follow all verbal requests for exchanges with a written document. This gives Boeing clear instructions as to what the customer wants. This also benefits the customer if there is any question of whether the customer requested a purchase or an exchange.

Steps for requesting exchange parts

1. The preferred method to ensure prompt service is to submit a written exchange request by email to: [email protected] and follow up with a call to Boeing (Amsterdam) at +31-651-472-655.

Please follow up all emails and faxes with a phone call to ensure receipt of order.

2. Identify yourself as a BBJ customer and provide your Boeing Spares three-letter customer code.

3. Specify that you would like an exchange from the BBJ exchange program.

4. Identify the aircraft for which you are requesting an exchange against (e.g., YG100 Aircraft S/N 12345).

5. Provide purchase order number.

6. Provide a ship-to address, with contact information for receiving party, handling agent (if required), and customer contact person.

7. BBJ owner/operators are responsible for all shipping charges. Define your preferred method of shipment and a specific courier number (i.e., DHL account # 99999999).

8. Provide contact information, phone number, and/or e-mail for Boeing to provide status and shipping information.

9. Return off unit to Boeing within four days and provide the return shipping details to [email protected]

Exchange Part Ordering Information:

BBJ customers must have a BBJ Exchange program contract agreement on file and if an MRO is odering the parts then an Assignment of Agent must also be on file.

Return Part Information Required in addition to items 1 - 9 above include:

- On-aircraft testing and/or fault notification details required - INOP, Unserviceable or non-technical explanations are not sufficient reasons, detail fault information needed

BBJ Spares - Steps for Placing a new Spares Order

Purchase Orders (PO) for spares parts can be placed two ways:

1. 24-hour phone: 1-206-662-6650.

2. Online: Part Page via MyBoeingFleet.

Please have the following information ready:

• Three-letter Spares Code (e.g. ABC or 1AB).

• Aircraft tail number or Serial number (e.g.YG100/ SN 12345).

• Purchase Order number - This is a number that is generated by the customer.

• Part Number.

• Quantity.

• Order Priority.

Ordering priorities are as follows:

• AOG - Aircraft On Ground - aircraft registry designation, serial number or tail number required on the purchase order.

• Critical (CRT) - Imminent AOG or work stoppage.

• Expedite (EXP) - Parts required in less than normal lead time.

• Routine (RTN) - Parts required on a routine basis.

Ship To Code or Address:

• Preferred Method of Shipping (FEDEX, UPS, courier).

If Service Bulletin Kits

To avoid delay in processing orders for service bulletin kits, please provide your modification/maintenance schedule including airplane serial numbers when placing your orders. To ensure fair distribution when customer demand is greater than kit availability, we will base allocation of kits on customer schedules. If a schedule is not provided, your order may be suspended.

Steps for AOG Situation or Order Escalations

If you have an airplane on the ground or a work stoppage, please call 1-206-662-6650 immediately with the following information. This infor-mation will also be asked if you would like to escalate your order due to a commit date that does not meet your demand date:

1. What is the aircraft serial number?

2. What is your aircraft situation in detail (e.g.,heavy check, incident, etc.)?

3. Please advise the date the part is needed on dock to support your schedule.

4. Please advise the date the aircraft is scheduled to return to revenue service or the date work stoppage will occur.

5. Can this installation be deferred? If so, what is the expiration date?

6. Is the quantity you’ve ordered the amount you require to support this urgent requirement, or can a lesser quantity meet this need? Please advise.

7. If this requirement is in support of an engine, please provide the engine serial number.

8. Please provide 24-hour contact information (name, phone, and email address).

Section 1: Warranty Basics - Terminology

Aircraft General Terms Agreement (AGTA): The contractual terms that apply to all aircraft purchase agreements.

Authorized Agent: Third party appointed by customer to per-form corrections and to administer warranties.

Boeing Product: Any part that is manufactured by Boeing or manufactured to Boeing’s detailed design.

Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE): Equipment furnished by the customer for installation in the aircraft.

Customer Services General Terms Agreement (CSGTA): Terms and condi-tions that apply, after aircraft delivery, to the sale or lease of parts, tools and services.

Defect: A term describing a discrepancy identified during the applicable warranty period for airplane(s) on which the discrepant condition is found.

Direct Labor: Labor spent to access, remove, repair, inspect, reassemble, reinstall, and test a component.

Direct Materials: Non-repairable and non-reusable items such as parts, gaskets, grease, sealant, and adhesives installed or used when making a correction.

Lost Time: Examples of lost time include time to adjust workplace (e.g., troubleshooting, shifting interiors around to get at a floor panel), time to schedule the work, time to cure the materials, time to find the tools, and time for ground spotters (cherry pickers and other high-lift devices). The Boeing Warranty does not cover lost time or consequential damage.

MyBoeingFleet (MBF): A secure web portal available to aircraft owners, operators, and third parties. It provides access to information essential to the operation of Boeing aircraft. The warranty claims page is located on MyBoeingFleet.

Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM): The supplier that owns the design and manufactures the product.

Product Support and Assurance Agreement (PSAA): A negotiated agreement between Boeing and suppliers of Seller Furnished Equip-ment that is available to customers describing product support, including warranty.

Purchase Agreement (PA): The contract for the purchase of aircraft.

Seller Furnished Equipment (SFE): Equipment furnished by Boeing for installation in the airplane.

Seller Purchased Equipment (SPE): Equipment purchased by Boeing on the customer’s behalf with cost and terms negotiated by the customer.

Warranty Documentation

The warranty is documented In Exhibit C of the Aircraft General Terms Agreement (AGTA), or Exhibit B of the aircraft Purchase Agreement (PA). The warranty for spare parts and services is found in the Customer Services General Terms Agreement (CSGTA).

Per Exhibit C of the aircraft Purchase Agreement, Boeing warrants that the covered components of the green aircraft will conform to the detail specification and will be free of defects in material, process of manufacture, and workmanship, including the workmanship used to install supplier products and engines, and be free from defects in design.

Warranty Remedies

Once a defective condition is confirmed and the appropriate warranty process is followed, remedies may include:

1. Reimbursement of reasonable costs of direct materials and hands-on, direct labor to correct the condition.

2. Reimbursement of customer’s freight charges, excluding customs duties, fees, and the like.

3. Other remedies as defined in Program Letters, service bulletins, and service letters. Reimbursement is provided in the form of a credit memorandum that may be used only for the purchase of goods and services.

Note: Parts that are not designed and manufactured to Boeing’s detail design are excluded from coverage under the Boeing warranty.

Warranty Rights

The party filing a warranty claim must have the right to file a claim. The claimant, authorized agent or third party filing on behalf of the customer must have submitted, and Boeing must have received and signed, an express written agreement to assign warranty rights and be bound by and comply with all applicable terms and conditions of the AGTA. This is typically called an assignment of rights agreement or assignment of agent agreement.

If assistance is required in ascertaining warranty rights and/or preparing an assignment of rights/agent agreement, please contact your BBJ Re-gional Contracts Director.

Completion and Maintenance Centers Filing Warranty Claims on Behalf of Operator

If a Completion Center or Maintenance Center is asked to perform warranty work, the customer may request the Completion/Maintenance Center to file warranty claims on their behalf. As stated in the Warranty Rights para-graph above, Boeing requires a signed assignment of rights/agent which authorizes the Completion/Maintenance Center to submit claims.

Warranty claims must provide a detailed breakdown of the direct labor, by task, and the direct materials by part number, quantity, and actual part & material prices, (no markup). To ensure the most accurate and fair reim-bursement, please ensure the Completion/Maintenance Center includes this information with all claims.

Boeing will reimburse only the direct labor at the Boeing warranty labor rate and direct material (not to exceed the then-current Boeing sell-ing price). Often the amount paid under warranty is less than what the Completion/Maintenance Center charges as Boeing reimbursement excludes maintenance provider profit, overhead charges, setup charges, material markups, handling fees, and the like. The difference between war-ranty reimbursement and the Completion/Maintenance Center invoice is respectfully deferred to the customer.

Online Claim System

Boeing recommends using the Warranty claims page on MBF for ease in filing claims, viewing the most recent warranty news, and obtaining copies of claim-related documents and credit memos. This convenient page also allows customers to submit warranty claims directly to SFE suppliers.

1. Ask your Electronic Access Administrator for access to the Warranty claims page on MBF.

2. Use the Warranty claims page to:

• E-mail your Boeing Warranty Regional Manager.

• Submit claims.

• See the most recent Program Letters.

• Get reports on claims filed on your fleet.

Section 2: How and Where to File a Claim

Claims should be filed in accordance with exhibit C of the Aircraft Purchase Agreement using the online warranty claim process through MyBoeing-Fleet. To sign up for online warranty filing, please contact your internal Electronic Access focal.

If filing a claim manually, please fill out the claim form to the best of your ability and send by fax, mail, or e-mail to the address listed in the warranty contact section. Please be sure to attach any supporting documentation or invoices that pertain to the claim. If you have any questions on how to file a claim, please contact your Boeing Warranty Regional Manager.

Types of Claims

1. Boeing Service bulletin or service letter.

2. Boeing design, material, workmanship, or conformance to the detail specification that are not related to a service bulletin or service letter.

3. Boeing Service Life Policy (SLP) is filed against specified covered compo-nents of aircraft primary structure once the original aircraft warranty has expired.

Submittal of Claims

Claims must be received within the following time limits:

1. Service bulletin/service letter remedies will expire eight years after pub-lication and the claims should be submitted as soon as possible after completion of the work on your in warranty aircraft (preferably within 1-year from when incoporation was completed).

2. For non-service bulletin/service letter claims the defect must be discov-ered while the aircraft is in warranty. The claim must be filed no more than 180 days after the warranty expires.

3. Service Life Policy claims must notify Boeing in writing of the failure within three months after it is discovered.

Service Bulletin/Letter Industry Support Information Statement

Each service bulletin or service letter has an industry support information statement that describes if warranty remedies are available, what they are, and identifies the in warranty date for the applicable remedies.

Boeing warranty remedies are available for aircraft in warranty as of Janu-ary 1, 2010. For task hour reimbursement for aircraft in warranty as of that date, send a warranty claim to Boeing Warranty and Product Assurance Contracts.

To determine whether your aircraft are eligible for warranty remedies:

• Aircraft must be included in the service bulletin or service letter effectivity.

• To determine which of your affected aircraft are in warranty, deduct the warranty term from the in warranty date, published in the service bulletin or service letter Industry Support Information Statement.

Service Bulletin and Service Letter Parts

Please review the industry support statement of the SB or SL to determine procurement information on parts. Some parts are provided free of charge and some are reimbursable under warranty, meaning the operator needs to issue a purchase order and pay for the parts up front. In this case, a warranty claim is filed for parts and labor after the work has been accom-plished. The operator will be responsible for paying the sales tax (if appli-cable) and parts invoices on these Service Bulletins and Letters in advance of warranty disposition.

Repair Options

The customer has the option to perform their own repairs, send the Boeing part to the Boeing Repair Center, or use a third party for the repair. Boeing requires only that the customer follow Boeing’s written instructions and acceptable industry practices and that repairs be made by a certified main-tenance provider. When sending a part to Boeing for repair, the customer should work directly with the Boeing Repair Center focal for repair order information and schedules.

Section 3: Non Boeing Components and Supplier Claims

In addition to the Boeing warranty, the components provided by other suppliers have their own individual warranties. Parts not manufactured to Boeing’s design are warranted by the Seller Furnished Equipment, (SFE), supplier. Boeing does not administer or manage any supplier warranties. Customers are responsible for submitting claims, including claims for BFE, SPE and engines, to suppliers.

If a SFE supplier is not complying with its contractual obligation, and the customer has made reasonable efforts to resolve the issue with the SFE supplier, please contact the Boeing Warranty Regional Manager for as-sistance.

SFE Supplier Warranty Terms

The Product Support and Assurance Agreement, (PSAA), is available for review on the MBF Supplier Customer Support page. The PSAA establishes the minimum level of support by our SFE suppliers in the area of product support, spare parts supply, component reliability guarantees, supplier accountability, and warranty.

SFE Supplier Component Repairs

As with Boeing parts, the customer has the option to repair SFE supplier components, but we strongly suggest that customers contact the supplier directly prior to any repair action. Contact information is available through the Product Support Supplier Directory through the MBF Maintenance Documents page or contact your Warranty Regional Manager for assistance in determining a supplier contact.

After coordinating with the supplier, the customer can forward the unserviceable part on a warranty repair order to the supplier for warranty repair consideration or for engineering evaluation if necessary. The Boeing Repair Center can also process repair orders on supplier parts. Customers are responsible for filing claims for labor and freight with the supplier. Repairs not covered by the supplier’s warranty are subject to sup-plier repair charges and a Boeing handling fee.

BBJ Authorized Warranty Service Centers – Warranty

Please review the warranty instructions included in the Warranty section of this handbook for specific warranty information. In the case of a BBJ Au-thorized Warranty Service Center, an “Owner Appointment of Agent—War-ranty and Customer Service Matters” form may be executed, allowing the center to file warranty claims on behalf of BBJ customers. Ser-vice Center charges, if any, for labor and parts over and above the Boeing allowances provided on individual service bulletins remain the responsibil-ity of the BBJ operator.

Long Bach Nguyen is one of the few photographers who enjoys the opportunity to create stunning images from the desk of his day job. As a professional pilot based in Seattle, Long spends most of his time crisscrossing the western United States in a diverse group of aircraft. Flying full time provides him the opportunity to capture unusual views of the landscape, spectacular weather formations, and other fresh perspectives few photographers ever experience. Long also provided photographs for the 2013 and 2014/2015 Handbook and took the photographs during the 2013 BBJ OOC. He will also be photographing the 2014 OOC.
