INTRODUCTION

When an account/person is created and registered, Sports Illustrated Play captures standard information

such as name, contact information, age, grade and gender, as well as emergency contact and medical

information.

If your league needs to capture information outside of what is gathered by default, you may create a custom

question which will be asked during a specific phase of the registration process—either when the account or

person is created, when they are registered, or when they purchase a product.

ADMINISTRATIVE PERMISSIONS The following administrative permissions are required to manage custom questions.

Total Access

System Administrator

OR

Manage Questions/Manage Registration Setup

NOTE: Manage Questions gives the administrator the ability to create/edit custom

questions in the Question Library. If you would like to give the administrator privileges to

assign Custom Registration Questions to Programs/Sessions/Divisions, you will need to also

give the Manage Registration Setup privilege.

QUESTION LIBRARIES A question library is where you will go to create, edit and store your custom questions. Question Libraries are

located under the Setup section of the Registration, Accounts and Store categories.

QUESTION TYPES There are several different types of questions that you can create, based on how you would like to gather the

answers to your questions.

Question types are chosen when a Custom Question is created.

List

The purpose of a List question is to give registrants a set list of options to choose from.

To create a List:

1. When creating a question, from the Type drop-down, choose List.

2. Click Edit Answers.

3. Click +Add Answer.

4. Type in your Text, and click Add Answer.

5. Repeat steps 3-4 until your entire list is created.




6. Click Done.

Example: What is your Shirt Size? Small, Med, Large.

Surcharge

A Surcharge question is a list that allows you to charge a fee when an answer is selected. When answers to

surcharge custom questions are created, they cannot be deleted. If needed, you can edit the verbiage of the

answer, or you may disable the answer and create a new one.

To create a Surcharge:

1. When creating a question, from the Type drop-down, choose Surcharge.

2. Click Edit Answers.

3. Click +Add Answer.

4. Type in your Text.

5. Type in your Surcharge amount.

6. Click Add Answer.

7. Repeat steps 3-6 until finished adding answers.

8. Click Done.

With a Surcharge you can:

Charge a fee based upon the answer to a question.

Create a discount based upon the answer to a question.

Example: Would you like to opt out of volunteering for $80? I would like to opt out. $80. OR No, I will

volunteer. $0.

Yes/No

The answers to this question will be Yes or No.

With a Yes/No question:

You can add follow up custom questions.

Example: Have you played for our league before? Yes/No

Textbox

This option is a free-form response to a question.

With a text box you must:

Choose a maximum length of the answer. In other words, how many characters long you are

allowing the answer to be.

Choose the display length of the answer. This is how large you would like the answer box to appear.

Example: Is there a friend you would like to be on the same team with?




Date

This type of question must be entered in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Example: What is the date of your last physical?

Number

This type of question must have a numerical response. Letters or other characters will not be accepted.

Example: Is there a Jersey number you would like to request?

Message

This type of question displays a message and is used for information that doesn’t require a response.

Example: Please note, you will need to purchase your own equipment.

CUSTOM QUESTION OPTIONS There are different options that you can select to further configure the Custom Questions.

Allows Multiple Items

This will allow participants to give multiple answers.

If this option is selected, you will not be able to add follow up questions.

Required

If this option is selected, participants will not be allowed to create an account, a person, or a registration

without answering the question.

Admin Only

This option is usually used to gather Player Ratings.

Players/parents will not see the question if this option is selected.

Editable by Coaches

Coaches can only edit questions when their team has been set to Active.

User Modifiable

This will allow users to modify their answers at a later date.

This option is not available for Registration Questions.

Add to Initial Payment

This option will include the price of the surcharge in the payment made at checkout.




Only available for Surcharge Custom Questions.

Include in Max Order Amount

Check this box to include the price of the surcharge in the total when applying a Max Order Amount

rule.

When checked, the surcharge is added to the total before a Max Order Amount rule is applied.

If not checked, then the surcharge is added after the Max Order Amount is set.

No effect if you are not using Max Order Amount Rules.

Only available for Surcharge Custom Questions.

Follow-Up Questions

This option is available after a List, Surcharge, or a Yes/No custom question is created, as long as the

question does not allow multiple options.

This option is available after the List, Surcharge, or Yes/No question has been created.

Follow-up questions can be created as any question type.

CREATING AND ASSIGNING CUSTOM QUESTIONS Custom questions are first created in the library, and most custom questions need to be assigned in the

sections where they are to be asked.

Registration Questions

Registration Questions are created in the Registration Question Library and assigned to the Program,

Session, or Division.

If Registration Custom Questions are assigned to a Program, those questions will be presented to

players or volunteers that register or apply for any Division under any Session, under that Program.

If questions are assigned to a Session, those questions will be presented to players or volunteers

who register or apply for any Division under that Session.

If questions are assigned to a Division, questions will be presented to players or volunteers who

register or apply ONLY to that Division.

Create a Registration Question 1. Go to Registration > Setup.

2. Click Registration Questions.

3. Click +New Question.

4. Fill out the Question Settings Form with the desired options/text.

5. Click Save.

Assign a Registration Question 1. Go to Registration > Setup > Programs.

2. Click the Program Name.

If assigning to the Session, click the Session Name.

If assigning to the Division, click the Session Name, then next to the Division, click Edit.

3. Click Custom Questions.




4. Under the Player Questions or the Volunteer Questions section, click +Assign Question.

5. To the right of the question, click Assign.

6. Follow steps 4-5 until every question is assigned.

7. When finished, click Done.

NOTE: The red asterisk (*) denotes a question is “Required.” The (A) denotes an “Admin Only” question.

Stop Asking a Registration Custom Question If you would like to stop asking a custom question, but still need to report on the answers, you may edit the

assignment of the question to Do Not Ask.

1. Go to Registration > Setup > Programs.


If the question is assigned to the Session, click the Session Name.

If the question is assigned to the Division, click the Session Name, then next to the Division,

click Edit.


4. To the right of the question you would like to stop asking, click Edit Assignment.

5. Choose Do not Ask this Question.

6. The system will label your question with “DNA” when successfully completed.

Unassign a Registration Custom Question If you would like to stop asking a custom question, and do not need to report on the answers, you may

unassign the question.





click Edit.



5. Choose Unassign this Question.

6. The system will remove your question from where it was assigned.

Team Questions

Team Questions are used by our customers who register entire Teams instead of individual players.

Team Questions are created in the Team Question Library and assigned to the Program, Session, or

Division.

If Team Custom Questions are assigned to a Program, those questions will be presented to the

team, players or volunteers that register or apply for any Division under any Session, under that

Program.

If questions are assigned to a Session, those questions will be presented to players or volunteers

who register or apply for any Division under that Session.

If questions are assigned to a Division, questions will be presented to team members who register

or apply ONLY to that Division.




Create a Team Question 1. Go to Registration > Setup.

2. Click Team Questions.



5. Click Save.

Assign a Team Question 1. Go to Registration > Setup > Programs.


If assigning to the Session, click the Session Name.

If assigning to the Division, click the Session Name, then next to the Division, click Edit.


4. Under the Player Questions, Volunteer Questions or the Team Registration Questions section, click

+Assign Question.


6. Follow steps 4-5 until every question is assigned.

7. When finished, click Done.


Stop Asking a Team Custom Question If you would like to stop asking a custom question, but still need to report on the answers, you may edit the

Person Questions

If Person Custom Questions are created, and assigned to a Child or an Adult, the questions will be presented

to either the Child or Adult after clicking the Register to Play/Participate (for Players) or Apply to

Coach/Volunteer (for volunteers) for that person.

Create a Person Question 1. Go to Accounts > Setup.

2. Choose Person Questions.



5. Click Save.

Assign a Person Question 1. Go to Accounts > Setup.


3. Under Child Questions or Adult Questions, click +Assign Question.

4. To the right of the desired question, choose Assign.

5. Repeat steps 2-3 until all questions are assigned.

6. Click Save.

KidSafe Info Questions

KidSafe Info questions are created at the Person level and are automatically assigned.

KidSafe Info questions are presented to volunteers when completing a Background Check.




Create a KidSafe Info Question 1. Go to Accounts > Setup.

2. Go to Person Questions.

3. Under KidSafe Info Question Library, click +New Question.

4. Fill out the Question Settings form with the desired options/text.

5. Click Save.

Stop Asking a KidSafe Info Question If you need to stop asking a KidSafe Info question, but still need to report on the answers that have been

collected:



3. Scroll to the KidSafe Info Question Library.

4. To the right of your question, click Edit.

5. Click Edit Settings.

6. Select Admin Only.

7. Click Save.

NOTE: The question will still appear for administrators during the registration process, but they will not

appear for volunteers completing a background check.

Delete a KidSafe Info Question If you need to stop asking a KidSafe Info question, and do not need to report on answers that have been

collected:

5. Click Delete.

6. Acknowledge that deleting a question will delete ALL answers to the question and past data will no

longer be reportable.

7. Click OK if you agree with step 6.

Account Questions

When Account Custom Questions are created, they are presented as Additional Account Information after

the first person is created on the account.

Account Custom Questions are automatically assigned.

Create an Account Question 1. Go to Accounts > Setup..

2. Click Account Questions.



5. Click Save.




Stop Asking an Account Question If you need to stop asking an account question, but still need to report on the answers that have been

collected:

appear for users creating an account.

Delete an Account Question If you need to stop asking an account question, and do not need to report on answers that have been

2. Go to Account Questions.


4. Click Delete.

5. Acknowledge that deleting a question will delete ALL answers to the question and past data will no

longer be reportable.

6. Click OK if you agree with step 5.

Product Questions

Product questions will be asked when ordering a specific item in MySportsStore.

When a product question is assigned to an item, the option to choose “Quantity” disappears. If users

need more than one item, they will need to select each item individually.

Create a Product Question 1. Go to Store > Setup.

2. Choose Product Questions.

3. Click +Add New Question.


5. Click Save.

Assign a Product Question 1. Go to Store > Manage > Products.

2. To the right of the product, click Edit.


4. Click Assign Question.


Stop Asking a Product Question If you need to stop asking an account question, but still need to report on the answers that have been

collected:




1. Go to Store > Manage > Products.



4. To the right of the question, click Edit.

5. Select Do Not Ask This Question.

6. Click Done.

Unassign a Product Question If you need to stop asking an account question, and do not need to report on the answers that have been

collected:

1. Go to Store > Manage > Products.



4. To the right of the question, click Edit.

5. Select Unassign this Question.

6. Click Done.
