Instruction for Completing GAR Engineering Standard Mecklenburg County EJ

1. Fill in blanks lines under highlighted sections in the Mecklenburg County Submittal Forms. - Date - Project Information - Engineering Judgment Design Information - Tested Systems (if applicable – UL Design Numbers)

- DPIRC (Architect of record must sign and seal this section verifying they are aware system is going to be implemented on their project.)

2. Fill in blank boxes on EJ Detail itself. MECO Standard EJ-01

-Project Name, Location, Building Permit Number, Architect, Fire Rating (1 or 2 HR) - Clearance: only relevant if using truss hangers (based on required this thickness of Cafco Blazeshiled per hourly rating seen in note 5) -Sprayfilm WB-5 or Cafco Blazeshiled II for bottom flange. Note 2A and 2B respectively. Choose one of the two. Then check box for required thickness based on hourly rating. - Check box of thickness per hourly rating required for Cafco Blazeshield application in note 5. - Note 7 gives option for using gypsum instead of Cafco Blazeshield on bottom surface of truss for purposes of ceiling installation.

MECO Standard EJ-02 -Project Name, Location, Building Permit Number, Architect, Fire Rating (1 or 2 HR) - Checkbox to Clarify which of the 3 detailed systems you will be implementing on your project. - UL Assembly Number for Intended Wall Assembly and Ceiling Assemblies in those locations. -

3. Submit these completed documents to Evia Birurakis (evia@garengineering.com). Include billing information in email. $2000 per EJ submittal. This fee does not include GAR Engineering inspection fees. GAR Engineering Inspections will be billed on a $250/HR basis as additional cost. Upon review, GAR Engineering will seal Mecklenburg County Paperwork and Details. GAR will submit completed package to Jeff Vernon for approval. 4. Once approved by Mecklenburg County, installation may begin. GAR Engineering must inspect all locations which this method is applied on your project. Upon approved inspection, GAR will provide sealed approval letter which must be uploaded to Mecklenburg County project portal by General Contractor.
