What have you learnt about technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
Redhead- The redhead lighting is the main light, which can
be used if you want to put the main focus on a certain
subject.
Lighting Dolly- used for tracking
Lilliput- is a smaller light, which is usually used add
lighting to a scene and take away the focus of a subject.
The equipment we used was provided by the Harrow Weald College. I felt that the
equipment was very useful in producing or media production and they were very
professional, which enabled us to do as much as we desired for the thriller. We used a dolly,
which we used to a great extent to track in and out of shots, to show different angles from
the camera. One of the most important devices was the sound microphone, as it was
essential that the dialogue being said in the first 2 minutes could be heard clearly and that
nothing distorted the sound, so that the audience know what emotions the protagonists are
feeling in the scene. Lighting was also very essential in making our production, as it was
filmed in a dark hall, so we had to create our own light, with the redhead and the Lilliput.
We attached red bits of see-through paper, to create a contrast of different colours upon
our subject, which gave it a grim atmosphere and made it seem like a torture scene.
Editing was also a very important part of our experience and development of skills in making
a short film. We used final cut pro, which is probably one of the best programmes to use for
an amateur film maker and it was fairly simple enough to use as well. We learnt to add
different bits of sound, to create more drama in our scenes and we gave our production
certain effects, by experimenting with all the different features that the programme had to
offer.
