TOWARDS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FROM A RESPONSIBLE CHAIR
ME & MY PLANT:
Me & My Plant is a new innovative concept which is introduced by Dr. James in the
capacity of Principal at WISTM Engineering College. Every fresher who joins in a
college enters the campus with a plant. On the occasion of fresher‟s day every newly
admitted student foliage a Plant with a slogan “Me & My Plant”.
It is the responsibility of the student during his stay in the campus to take care of the plant,
which he / she planted on the fresher‟s day. The vision is, within the time span of four
years, Plants would grow as Trees and Students would grow as Employable Engineers &
Responsible Citizens.
Speaking in a 2 hrs Live Show on a
National T.V. Channel on the subject of
EAMCET - 2014 Counseling.
For the first time on 11.08.2016, this
concept was implemented meticulously
by involving about 800 freshers planting
a sapling and all of them standing at
their position in the 10 acre campus and
completed the job along with the guests
at the same time fraction.

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON DEMONETIZATION & CASHLESS
TRANSACTIONS AT MVP RAITHU BAZAR
Organized an awareness programme to educate formers and venders on digital payments,
usage of cards and go cashless at the largest Raithu Bazar in the city on a busy Sunday,
18.12.2017. This activity brought awareness to the common men post demonetization
SWACHH BHARAT ACTIVITIES
Organised Swachh Bharat campaigns in and around
WISTM. Efforts are made to educate students and
common men in the villages around the college campus
in bringing awareness to give high priority to the
cleanliness.
AWARNESS PROGRAMME ON RIVERS
India‟s rivers are undergoing a drastic change. Due to the pressures of population and
development, our perennial rivers are becoming seasonal. Organised an Awareness
Programme, “Rally for Rivers” which is a nationwide campaign organized by Sadhguru
Jaggi Vasudev through ISHA foundation in collaboration with state governments with the
support of individuals. The representatives from ISHA organization were invited to bring
awareness to the students and make them active participants in conserving the natural
resources.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ANTI-CORRUPTION
Under the guidance and directions of Central Vigilance
Commission, an awareness programme on Anticorruption
was organized at WISTM in association with Hindustan
Shipyard Ltd. on 25/10/2017.
18
All the students have taken an oath not to take bribe or encourage corruption. More than
1500 students and staff made the pledge on line and generated the E-Certificate.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON INDIVIDUAL TOILETS CONSTRUCTION
Under the Swachh Bharat cleanliness mission, the
government of India introduced Individual Household
toilets scheme for sanitation reasons. Most of the
villages in India lack private toilets and the villagers
have been using the remote open areas and fields for
toilets. As a part of this initiation, in associated with
Grama Panchayat Secretary, a remote village called Gorapalli in Pendurthi Mandal
has been reached with NSS student volunteers and motivated the villagers on the
benefits of having individual toilets and created awareness on human dignity.
Pendurthi Mandal has been
declared as Open Deification Free
(ODF) in the district of
Visakhapatanm. In recognition of
the efforts towards making
Penduthi as ODF Mandal, the
Revenue Authorities in the
presence of Surpunches of the
villages and University Authorities
honored Dr. James Stephen on 01-
09-2018 and a Award is presented.
